I agree to a point, but the problem is that their vision of security is largely performative. It gets in the way and doesn't even make things better. Look at the obtuse "security" theatre they keep pushing for Wayland. The insistence on display security fixes a minor issue and in the process makes the protocol effectively useless for screen reader software.

We know that Hector Martin likes to write dossiers on people in Google Docs and even threaten them with releasing the dossier. He claims that this new list of kernel maintainers he hates is not for public consumption. But I can easily see this becoming like another dossier that he threatens people with behind the scenes. Especially since he likes to use words like "sabotage" against people who are publicly opposed to rust in the linux kernel. And he wants any anti-rust maintainers to know that he will refer them to the CoC jannies if they commit the high crime of saying that rust is "cancer."

Every time I return to this thread it reminds me more and more why I despise open source Linux, and further cements my opinion that u less it's properly tard-wrangled, Linux is for nobody but autistic trannies and faggots.

Imagine spending whats supposed to be the prime years of your life locked away in a basement coding a fork of an operating system that maybe a couple hundred people at most will ever use. The only interaction you have with people is getting into pissing matches online, or meeting other smelly autists at some Literally-Who-Cares convention. The meager livelihood you eek out is entirely dependent on corporate welfare from online paypigs forking over their monthly Tardbux and other gibs you can grift from them. Utterly pathetic.

Being told that your idea for a grand rewrite of major part of the OS sucks, is NOT sabotage. It's not that maintainer's job to come up with the way to rewrite something that has been working since forever. Being "fundamentally opposed" without providing a technical alternative is not sabotage either. If anyone's, that's R4L job to come up with something that doesn't fuck up all existing drivers. DMA is a fragile system and a large part of it is done in hardware, so you cannot abstract it away in Rust or any other high level language.

Hector martin is just a retarded manchild who happens to know how to write Linux kernel code.

Christoph Hellwig is saying that rust code should not be able to use DMA. The patch was to expose an abstraction for Rust drivers to use the kernel's existing DMA API, and it was not a rewrite of anything. The patch only adds new Rust code. No existing drivers are affected here.
