I do not think it is causative in any way; I wanted to be a girl since I was at least 2. I think my gender expression and other elements of my identity and outwards-facing personality probably contributed to the abuse I received though. Definitely some of it was directly related. A lot seemed to be a parental, peer or teacher response to me as a whole person.

I think it is part of my experience of being transgender, though in no way removed from other elements of myself.
