I can understand why it's still going because this is probably one of the only times her accusers/victims aren't being silenced or intimidated by her fans or Sophia herself. She's had whiteknights for years, constantly running defence, enabling her behaviour and justifying every "mistake" she made in the name of BPD/trauma/autism. It's barely even a slap fight as Sophia isn't sperging in retaliation, she probably knows she's fucked and can't come back from this. (but who knows, chronically online people can't stay offline)
I've been aware of her since 2016/17 and I think a lot of her fans grew up with her, they see themselves in her and defend her for that reason. People were empathetic to her issues but she took advantage of that because when you enable and coddle someone like Sophia it'll only teach them they can get away with anything if they use their issues as an excuse. People are starting to see she wasn't just a "traumatised kid" but a legitimately vile person manipulating and taking advantage of others.
It's just crazy to me it's taken this long for people to realise how deranged she is. I know I'm rambling but like I said I've been there since she was suicidebaiting on Google+ and she's only gotten worse since then. I don't know how any of her fans are surprised, like "You mean to tell me this person who uses mental illness as an excuse for everything is a bad person? How could this possibly be?" One thing that's a positive in this situation is that people affected by her actions are able to speak out without fear of being fucked with by her/her fans, I hope that brings some closure to them.
Oh yeah, I know this. I've also had an eye on this for a while. what I meant is that it's been prolonged for years because Birdie has made it that way. For most things like this, the person is called out, booted off their platform and then they fall into obscurity. But Birdie has become a master of deflection. Like she knows the exact moment to go silent to try and make the consequences disappear, making anybody who still talks about it seem irrationally persistent in the process. Makes me wonder if Birdie does it on purpose if only to prolong being the center of attention for as much time as possible. Which is weird, coming from the person who "just wants to get away from Birdie drama", but what can we expect at this point really?
When I say "slap-fight", I mean it seems like one side will make some kind of callout, Birdie will minimize the whole thing making something that should be a smoking gun into a "slap" (so to speak), and then promptly delivers a nothing burger reply that their fans eat up. Rinse and repeat. I sometimes just wonder, "why haven't we as a society just been rid of Birdie?" A lot of other people don't even get away with doing a fraction of all the shit Birdie has done. It's befuddling.
Of course I also know that realistically it's more complicated than that but damn. All of this effort will probably result in Birdie giving yet another substanceless response where she uses her typing quirk and replies to detractors with shit like "cause I have BPD, hope this helps..."
It's definitely a good thing that her victims can come foward now. Gives everyone information on Birdie's actions and no doubt some form of closure for the people involved. But also fuck birdie's fans for shutting them down for so long. Just dragged it out YEARS beyond where it should've ended.
It is also a theory of mine that Birdie has been looking at twitter, and is aware of at least the bulk of the accusations levied against her, but has decided to play dumb just so she can cherry pick what she replies to and pretend she just didn't know about the rest.
