Symptoms of long term decongestant (psuedophedrine) use include:
  • Excitability
  • Fear
  • Tenseness
  • Pallor
  • Rhinitis medicamentosa (RM)*
  • Dependence**
* Rebounded nasal congestion cause by overuse of decongestants
** and the withdrawal symptoms that come with it every time you start coming down

Additionally, consuming large amounts of caffeine can worsen the side effects of pseudoephedrine.

Go to a fucking doctor, you fucking drug addict.

I'll admit, this puts that image of their counter absolutely littered with decongestants and general medication in a very unfortunate light...

If you need to keep this much medication at the ready, you're either an extreme hypochondriac or there's something wrong and need to head to a doctor before it starts to get worse.

And frankly I don't know which one Phil is.

Doesn't seem to be that much medication, tbh:

- one sealed small flask at the top left of the screen (eyedrops?);
- the two red flasks on the left are... mouth wash?
- two flasks of what seems to be decongestant in the middle;
- two packs of cold medicine;
- that red flask on top of the cold medicine (Chloro... formium?), that he either uses to knock down PandaLee for some sexy time, or maybe that's a throat spray? I'm not familiar with burgerland medicine.

That's not too much, specially if you consider that's a) two people, and b) cold Washington winter.

I almost forgot about that countertop full of medicine. Did they forget that multi-symptom medicine exists or something? Looked like they bought 1/4 of the cold medicine section there.

I literally cannot imagine Phil being a hypochondriac.

This is a guy who keeps a stupid garden tool by his front door as a weapon and got super suspicious about his viewers after that little "almost hacked" shit with his stream chat not too long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he does have hypochrondriac tendencies.

I bet he wouldn't need half of that OTC stuff if he went to a doctor or an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) specialist.

I've actually got something through my work's insurance that allows me to call a number, describe my symptoms, and receive a prescription over the phone. Costs me a few bucks out of my check each month, and I can just drive down to the local pharmacy and pick up my medicine within an hour. There's also a fee of about 40 bucks for getting a phone appointment, but that's still a hell of a lot better than an actual office visit.
