If you read one extended news article this week, make it this article on Wired. (Here is an archived version without the paywall). It’s a profile piece on Brad Dennis, a private investigator whom I’ve come to know over the last year (due to both of us ending up on the radar of former science-fiction writer Patrick “Rick” Tomlinson and the crazies that orbit his imploding star), and Brad’s involvement in helping the FBI capture Torswats. Great article, and great to see Brad’s efforts getting some validation and recognition. (And for my thoughts on Tomlinson, click here).

Crypto exchanges like Coinbase and Gemini employ some of the most advanced anti-fraud technologies available and enforce the strictest KYC (Know Your Customer) policies. If someone had the resources and expertise to bypass these measures to open an account using a stolen identity and extract crypto from it, they would not squander such valuable knowledge on what Patrick claims occurred. Moreover, it is not possible to open an exchange account with just an SSN and send crypto. You also cannot use a card in someone else’s name, as this violates both the exchange’s Terms of Service and KYC policies. The card must be in the name of the verified account holder, and exchanges would not permit otherwise. Additionally, crypto exchanges require multiple layers of verification beyond an SSN to ensure accounts are not fraudulently created. These include photo ID uploads, facial recognition checks, and proof of residence. All of this makes Patrick’s claims even more implausible. What he is saying is deeply troubling but not surprising, considering the harassment and doxxing I have experienced from one of his friends. I should add that I have been threatened by numerous swatters and groups, yet none have gone to the lengths to harass me as this individual has. Wolves in sheep’s clothing—it’s sick. Yeah I find myself agreeing with your stance on this tbh. I am not and would not applaud repeated swattings of someone, even if they are the biggest prick in the universe known as Patrick Tomlinson. But he just doesn't really seem to have much of a case here. Even if someone is swatted (assuming they don't get domed of course) it would be unreasonable for the cops to just stop showing up permanently, fuck even multiple times. The extreme responses the police had were few in number compared to the number of swattings called in (which again, I'm still skeptical that Fat Rick is completely innocent in that). The majority of swattings that were called in against Patrick happened to be domestic violence calls which, unfortunately for everyone involved, Patrick has a history of belligerent behavior and threats of domestic violence!

Is it impossible for Patrick to win? No, I don't think so, just unlikely considering how shallow this case really is! If I stand corrected than fine, but I really doubt this will be a slam dunk for Patrick.

EG,

1) Officer Niceguy knocks on door, Patty answers, Niki and the golliwog gang that's fumigating her vagina all appear at the door, police determine no one is in danger, the call is a false alarm, call is cleared. Patty goes back to nochilding and chemical warfare continues in Niki's crevice.

2) Patty, drunk off his octuple tits, and taking a break from grinding up poor Jamal, DeShawn, and Deiondre to do some posting on Twitter, gets a knock on his door. He had explicitly instructed Niki he is.not.to.be.dis.turbed.child, and, irate, clicks to the doorbell notification and sees Milwaukee's finest. Asshole already tender from the butthurt Leslie delivered to him in their latest exchange, he scurries up the stairs oinking and squealing telling the police to "LEAVE AND NEVER RETURN!", necessitating a more lengthy response from Officer Niceguy who is on his third DV call of the night and is not looking forward to filling out the paperwork for this idiot.

3) Officer Asshole decides to powertrip on Patrick Swine Tomlinson because he's a dick/having a rough night/is tired of responding to this manchild jackass, and for no reason decides to give him the gears, despite Patty demonstrating all the meekness, obedience and politeness of a native Canadian.

TL;DR: does it come down to how both parties conducted themselves?

EDIT: And for me, personally, I really want this to go to discovery/deposition/trial. I don't care who wins, I just want more embarrassing Patlore out there and, potentially, the confirmation Patty did indeed SWAT his own curly-tailed ass. I'm just skeptical, as a layperson, of any potential serious ramifications of this case (although it would be hilarious if Patty's faucet dink ends up becoming a well-referenced bit of caselaw and ultimately becomes his legacy.)

I hope Pat wins his lawsuit. Cops are typically morons with GEDs, held to a lower standard than your average Walmart employee. Shit like qualified immunity and civil forefiture have been given to literal mouth breathers and I hope any case that could weaken one or both of those things, wins.

The cops being sued seem like idiots. The city for employing them seem like idiots. Pat is an idiot. Only one of them however was being idiots in the course of their work and representing the city.

The side benefit will be that Pat can't handle a win. He is going to do something stupid like blow all the money on chocolate dinosaurs or $1200 flip phones to flush down his toilet.

The moment that there is a case of some cops killing a black dude, Pat is going to be pontificating about how he is the real victims and he has the proof because of this lawsuit.

Something about women's rights, same thing. Hell, if someone tweets about having a stressful day, he will bring up his successful case.

Pat tweets out something stupid about physics or cars, "I'm correct child because I sued my city for harassment and stalker childing".

I'm not a LOLtuber but I do think there's a strong possibility if Fatrick can keep from tarding out he could win, at least on appeal.

Police can enter his home without a warrant under some circumstances but it can't be used as a pretext for a search they wouldn't otherwise be able to make.

If the departments knows these are hoaxes and still repeatedly searches his home I think it's possible a sympathetic jury would side with him. In general the public has grown tired of the low IQ antics of cops.

To add on to the above post, don't forget this is Patrick we're talking about. He'll be rushing to flex his "wealth" on the stalker childs and he'll perceive the payout as a far bigger W than it actually is, even if he did walk away with millions (a mighty large rainbow-colored X button for that one). More and better access to more calorie-dense food and alcohol means that those bitch tits are going to grow almost as large as his ego will after this. I mean, he really might start drinking even more or pick up another drug habit that'll stimulate his FFWBT'ness.

Maybe we'll get something similar to an Ethan Ralph pillstream out of him where we'll finally get to see the faucet and the moobs in all their glory.
