If you make a family with someone their health becomes your business and keeping crucial information about it secret is extremely shitty behavior. Health affects everything from everyday diet and skin care to long term finances and if you can have kids. With that said, I get why people - including women - are cowardly on this issue. Fong Jones just got a man fired from Meta over Christmas. If you’re a woman, a good punch to the orbital could kill or concuss you. Sure, America has guns, but women in the commonwealth (for example) don’t. I'm not sure when it started, but back in the mid-2000s I used to read blogs and forums where "amig@s" and such was pretty common. But it wasn't a feminist statement, just a way of shortening "amigos y amigas". It was quirky and friendly, or at least that's how I remember it.
Or for example, a forum user would address you as "amig@" because they didn't know if you were a boy or a girl, not because you were non-binary.
That's why I'm very fond the @ and it's the only "gender-neutral grammar" I accept.

I first started seeing my orthodontist when I was on test, I haven’t had trouble passing as a cis guy in years. The only dead giveaway is the fact that my name isn’t legally changed, so I explained when I scheduled my first appointment that I will only respond to my given name. (I don’t want to be outed to a bunch of strangers in a waiting room.)

So whatever, they’ve been respecting that, the orthodontist I go to, 99% of the patients I see in there are male. The room where they do the work in is a little odd, its all very open and you’re basically right next to the other patients.

Ever since I’ve been going, my doctor has been calling me ‘she/her.’ I haven’t said anything because I’m stealth and if I said “i use he/him” it would definitely out me to all of the other patients next to me.

It honestly is very upsetting because its very obvious that I present myself as a guy, I have facial hair and a deep voice as well as a very muscular build, so it seems to me that my doctor is misgendering me on purpose. (although I don’t want to assume.)

What would be a discreet and nonchalant way to correct her without outing me? The only idea I’ve had so far is go “she?” And then kind of laugh. Is that okay? I might be overthinking this, but I feel uncomfortable there and I’m done just being walked on.
