To be fair, she says she gets along with trannys because they understand the experience of living through such a huge life change. In their case, it's a faux sex change, in hers she gets to see! and from the sounds of it, she found it really overwhelming and traumatic at first.
She also talks about the self image that she had, which was based on what other people saw and communicated to her. Once she could see, she found it really difficult to reconcile the 'true' image of what she can  see she looks like in the mirror, with the image she had held in her head for most of her life.
I guess she's a sympathetic person who feels as though she and the trannys have similar experiences and difficulties. She doesn't seem to realize (yet) that they're lying most of the time.
