The detective assigned to the case was notified of this, and was aware of some other facts regarding Rekieta. He then watched his streams, used his training and experience and went: “Yup! He sure acts like he’s high as a kite! And that kinda looks like coke!”

He then went to a judge and went: “Based on these facts, we think there may be drugs at the balldo mansion!” The judge went “Meh, sounds reasonable!” And lo and behold…

THEY ACTUALLY FOUND DRUGS THERE!

Barnes pretends it’s all “hearsay and church gossip” and complains that the detective “only has six years of experience” and doesn’t have “medical or psychological training!” (LMAO WUT?!)

According to Barnes, police needs to go and have half a dozen expert witnesses sign off on a probable cause affidavit or something.

I'm not a big fan of the whole "police are expert witnesses on everything" bullshit, and have seen some sketchy claims of this sort, but this isn't one of them. Rekieta was obviously coked out of his gourd to the point AND drunk to the point everyone watching this shit was like he's totally on cocaine even before he showed up with cocaine on his nose, rocking back and forth and gurning crazily like a loony bin inmate with tardive dyskinesia.

It also doesn't even matter. Tons of search warrants are based on literally nothing but hearsay. There's a limit to this. It has to have some indicia of reliability and some effort to corroborate it helps with that (Gates).

It has to be truly threadbare, like a single anonymous informant, before it's clearly insufficient. Even then, the cops can start with an anonymous informant, then at least look at the public activity around the property, note that there are vehicles of known drug users making brief visits at all hours of the day and night, and that this is consistent with drug dealing activity, and then seek a warrant.

Nick is just a losing loser who loses.
