As president, Trump can force all of Congress to go into recess if Mike Johnson takes the House into recess. Until Trump is president, he's pretty much obligated to try and get in who he can. If he can get Paxton in, that would be great. But he's obligated to try, right up until he isn't. :tomgirl:

That’s not possible during a hostile takeover of the party by outsider economic elites, sadly. It’s at least a decade long fight to change a party once entry and leadership struggles get decided. In a decade the old guard is mostly dead or retired. Economic elites will complete circulation and the millennials will be in a leadership position. In a decade the house and senate will have had marginal seats and districts tested time and again and a census and redistricting happen. Most importantly what’s radical today is common sense in ten years.
