Basic protocol:

It's pretty standard, the laboratory they tested at had a robust protocol that included sample decontamination and pulverising for faster turnover. Unless there was a fatal incident, there's no room for any testing errors. The ELISA (hehe) they use is approved by the state. Their results have been challenged and from what I have read, they came out as the winner each time.

Everyone I've spoken to said once a child tests positive, they'll retest just to be sure and validate all the overhead as well, such as the sample itself and instruments. A supervisor might be assigned to oversee retesting and required to sign it off. There really isn't any room for errors unless something truly malicious was going on, but then one would have to ask "what's in it for them?"
