It could be that the house is sectioned off like a duplex inside. I had 2 friends growing up that lived in a similar build place. Probably the same size as Nick's.
Pretty wide place and 3 stories.
But the whole family including grandparents lived there + an uncle.
Multi generation Korean household.
Each had their own section completely separate from the others. Complete with doorbells for each individual section, phonelines, power meters etc.
I've been inside of duplexes that were set up similar as well. Where it at one point was a single house that was sectioned off into multiple small single rental spaces.

I love how you can tell that this user doesn’t own a home. Any true American patriot knows that you can’t boobytrap your own private property because some government agent might get got. U.S Federal law, under the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996, criminalizes the use of booby traps, particularly those that could harm federal employees like postal workers.

The logic? People have a right to knock on your door. People have a right to get an address wrong. If Nick thought he was in danger, he shouldn’t have removed the barricade between himself and the threat.
