I disagree. It's difficult to value Twitter like you would any other company because their value is tied to an unquantifiable asset. Owning Twitter means owning the power to shape public perception on at least a short term basis. There's a lot of people on the planet that would value that power more than XYZ billion dollars if they could attain it. There's also the argument that it holds value as a weapon due to the role MySpace and Facebook played in toppling multiple governments during the Arab Spring..although it undoubtedly wasn't worth 44 billion in stock buys
It's not worth 40 billion to someone that is buying it as a financial investment with the hope of a return. It's potentially priceless to someone buying it for personal power. Like most things, it's just a tool, and the good or evil of it is exclusively tied to the person wielding it.
