nobody ever asks to see your diploma at a job interview though. People that don’t have one should just say they do have one. And somebody with an IEP diploma might get that simply because they happen to be in special ed and not general ed and don’t meet the regular requirements for such and such course because they weren’t enrolled in the correct units or something. Somebody who is hearing impaired is just as intelligent as the next person and the diploma is just a matter of specific units taken and paperwork. It’s not the student’s fault that they were placed in special ed due to special accommodations needed for hearing loss and is zero related to intelligence. There’s not even a learning disorder there and not a low iq and the iq HAS been tested for special ed testing so is in fact normal otherwise they would qualify under MR (that’s the real category, they still say mental retardation but we call it MR to sound better) or if there is a gap between iq and achievement that is due to a learning disorder. Hearing impairment is simply a physical issue and nothing to do with intelligence in anyway.

Also in some states they have high school exit exams which are difficult for many students to pass and having disabilities makes it even harder and often times the special ed provider will encourage the student just to do the iep diploma, and if they aren’t a very good ethical teacher they might just set all their students up so that’s what they end up getting. Go to school and wear complete sound muting headphones and see how well you do. You can’t take them off ever, and you have to socialize like that. Throw in some autism on top of that and then people bullying you about all that shit. Then they bully you as an adult too and use your lack of social skills to instigate it further. Just saying
