I imagine the reason was he still hoped he could sweep everything under the carpet and avoid admitting swinging.

I will confess, the theory this might have been tied to him not completing CLE is apparently wrong, but I don't feel bad for suggesting that, because I said it was just a theory, and that's what caused me to check regularly and notice the change on the 1st.
