Unironically, yes. The neckbeards absolutely believed their own arguments. Neckbeard talking points (often involving atheism or inceldom) usually appealed to common sense; the fact that god is either not omnipotent or he's not benevolent, the fact that up until the Tindr generation women historically gatekept sex from men. They're not necessarily wrong about these things, but complaining about them as a primary personality trait makes them come across as insufferable losers. They also had a tendency to kiss their own ass in conversation and were seldom to utilize self-deprecation, so they would come across as really condescending.
Contrast with troons. Troons argue that they are women, but they know they look like men with greasy, receding hair and a dress.
