I also empathize with Clint a lot actually. I for one think he does what he can with the limited options he has. I never really understood the "Clint is an enabler" angle because, yes, he does shift a lot of the blame on the troles for what happens to his son but on the other hand he will loose contact with Cobes once he tells him that he has to do [thing xyz that will help him] since Cobes is a thickheaded autistic reptile.
It's hard. I just think for once one of the lolcows has a parental figure that seems to be giving a shit about their offspring and it's still not enough apparently.
Basically Cobe is a very difficult type of person that is really hard for parents for deal with
Tarded but not Tarded enough.
No way close to being able to adequately make the best choices if in a sticky situation which he's more prone to, but also not properly mentally disabled enough to be easily ruled over.
Lazy and surly enough to not be able to work but energetic and intelligent enough to get himself into trouble with various other things to fill the time.
Basically he's in an impossible situation that a lot of parents find themsleves sin when their idiot offspring is just sane enough to be their own person, and not too much of a cunt where they can be written off and not cared about.
The primary thing is that he is around decent people as this massively blows the wind in his dials as to which direction he takes
And trying to socially manage your adult child's life, even before they are famous on the Internet, and down the wrong streets on the Internet, is just way too big a task.
He's in a situation noone would really be able to handle brilliantly without doing something totally illiberal and being able to dedicate their entire life, for every moment of the day, for a significant period of time, in order to better.
And even then maybe there's room enough for growth that micromanaging Cobe would perhaps be robbing him of a longer term useful struggle.
Fuck knows. It's difficult and no one can really judge too harshly
