Victoria's emotional age is about four months, I think. Victoria really can't come to terms with the fact that she's aged out of youth shelter resources.

She seems to think all these places owe her something other than the standard treatment. She can't believe they'd just treat her like a regular person. Yes, Victoria, now you have to go hang out with all the fent and meth addicts in the regular shelters, instead of a hostel for wayward girls. In fact, because you're LARPing as a man, you might even have to go hang out in a men's shelter, depending on the level of pozzed New York is about that kind of thing. Good luck!

She doesn't realize that her sob story about how her parents could totally help her if they'd just lift a finger, or her tales of staying at fancy hotels until her last overdraft dollar had been used up, will just brand her as absolutely unfixable.

The first thing you learn when you do even basic outreach to the homeless is that they're almost never decent people who are just "down on their luck." In order to end up on the actual streets for weeks or months, you need to first alienate every human being who would help you out of such a dire situation. Every person in your life needs to think it would be a bad idea to give you a place to live for a bit, or you've already exhausted all of those resources and couchsurfed with everyone who would let you until they kicked you out onto the streets.

The only way everyone in your life will let you fall through the cracks like this is if you've been an asshole to literally everyone who ever loved you. And that's exactly the world Victoria inhabits: one in which she has overdrawn not only her bank accounts, but also the goodwill of every friend and family member who ever cared for her.

She believes she is entitled to spend about $500-700 per day on herself, and keeps refusing to accept her new position in life, because she's still convinced this is a temporary situation she'll soon be rescued from. She believes now that school will be her salvation, and that BSing occasional "independent study" papers about disability stigma will keep the wolf from the door. She will now proceed to alienate every person at NYU tasked with helping students in a bad situation, as they all realize slowly that Victoria is just a giant open mouth that looks like it is begging for food, but is really just preparing to bite whatever hand is gullible enough to feed it.
