I think April probably thinks there are ~romantic feelings~ coming from Nick and is trying to play upon them. I don't think she has any such "finer" emotions (although how can they be called "fine" when they involve a married couple and a houseful of neglected children) because I think she's a monkeybranching grifter who has her eyes on what she perceives to be a prize (lol) I don't think Nick has "finer feelings" because based on his behavior to date I believe him to be a narcissist at best and a sociopath at worst, he thinks with his dick, and on top of that is one of the most cynical and wanna-be Machiavellian shitheads listed on this site.
I've seen a lot of white trash women jump from relationship to relationship, high off the initial hit of brain chemicals that attract them to a partner. Then when it wears off "it's just not the same" so they move on. April strikes me as that kind of ho. There's now added feelings of getting moved into her own house, and now the Balldo mansion itself. She strikes me as a "if it feels good, do it" type. Coke, damaging multiple marriages, confusing and scarring kids by forcing them to think her as a second mom. None of that matters because it feels good, and that's what's important.
But Nick is just living out his American Beauty sexual fantasy of having a younger woman, who is sexually experienced and just as depraved as he is, willing to take the Balldo and do what he says.
He's also a narcissist. Once you've learned their behavior patterns you get the impression they take the same shitty person class. He's devalued and discarded his wife because his pornsick brain can't stand her "child birth ruined" body despite all the cosmetic surgery he's had her get. I think he might not be lying in his mind when he says April isn't his girlfriend. He views her as a living centerfold just for him. It's sick, disgusting behavior.
Seeing him agree to talk to Melonie Mac pretty expected. She is not a smart woman, she's coasted through life being a pretty gamer girl. Rackets has made it clear he loves trashy looking tattooed women, mostly blondes. He's only talking to her to try to sidle up and feel out if she wants the Balldo too. She's likely too naive to figure that out, but I think she'll bail once his wetbrain makes it obvious. She at least seems to know theology better than Nick - not that that's a high bar.
I do think things are tense in Chez Balldo because he likely, in his Nick way, talked up April's case being easily dismissed. He at least seems to have learned something from May as he didn't do Appealstream 2.0. He's opted to blow steam at random Twitter users instead, where it isn't obvious how high/sloshed he is.
