What happened with Pink News?

A Xwitter account called @PinkNewsStaff has spent the last few months accusing them of all sorts of things, backed up with recorded conversations. Most crucially, Ben Cohen seems on tape saying he doesn't want to destroy his credibility over trans issues, as if that boat hadn't long since sailed.

After years of attacking people viciously for refusing to bow to troons, he is now being attacked viciously by them.

so the word "enban" has been proposed as a nonbinary equivalent to man or woman. my question is, how is it pronounced? and how is the pronunciation of the plural form, "enben", distinct?

so as far as i can tell, the -an changing to -en when plural comes from both man/men and woman/women. the issue here is stress. the word is /mæn/, which feels easy and natural because it's only one syllable and thus stressed. that makes the plural, /men/, make much more sense. for the word /wʊmɪn/, we reduce the second vowel since the stress is on the first syllable. so, we modify the first vowel so the second can stay reduced: /wɪmɪn/.

so, for the word enban, my first instinct is to pronounce it /enbɪn/, to go along with the first syllable being stressed and second reduced that we see in woman. but, then, what vowel do we change to make enban into enben?

A couple of comments seem to imply it's not catching on.

If you're familiar with oldschool lesbian culture it wouldn't be that surprising. Butches have been like this forever, basically, there just hasn't been enough social acceptance or avenues of medicalization until recently. Hard butches especially have historically always seen themselves as and have been treated as halfway between men and women, a literal third gender, to the point where there are multiple books on the subject. The biggest difference now is that they have an "out" for that feeling of alienation that lets them externalize that feeling and have easy access to the medical pipeline.

It's actually one of the greatest tragedies about the loss of butch/tomboy culture, that these women feel so alienated by not conforming to femininity that society has taught them they must not be women at all. There is no more of elder butches guiding their fresh-faced counterparts through self acceptance and reconciling their identity. Only a lifetime of hormones and self mutilation. It's such a shame.

Encouraging people to be comfortable in their bodies actually makes it more likely that they'll lose weight. The idea that people shouldn't feel beautiful or good about themselves until they do is counterproductive.
