Is there any info on the case at all? Jake claims that Delaware was accused by a 16 year old that he and others abused her as an 11 year old. Who are the other people? Jake states he took a plea which is why he got a lighter sentence. Did the others take a plea or did they actually fight the charges in court? Hypothetically if they won their cases proving the allegations were false that gives pretty decent argument for someone to believe he did nothing wrong and took a plea because a conviction would have been much worse.

I am not sure on state law surrounding this either but if you take a plea but another defendant in the same case wants to be tried separately and wins, Does that give you legal ground to have your plea overturned and conviction/charges dropped?

I don't think you can argue legality when he wasn't a prisoner, so any laws on torture dont apply. There is more to be said about coercion and causing invalidation of consent under the conditions he was in though.
The guy was weak, but also treated poorly. I think he is overreacting because he is a sensitive person, not ideal for the task. Someone should have stepped in, but besides that, he was participating voluntarily and could leave technically, even if he claims the social pressure kept him in far beyond his capacity.
I don't think the production itself is too terrible, a real harrowing test has merit, but the contestant was too weak for it and Jimmy didn't manage it well once it got bad. It seems like a real clusterfuck with failure points all over.
