Trident's Forge is already a massive improvement over The Ark in every conceivable way that i'm keen on finding out if it holds up to the end or not. after an abominable first book, the second book, so far, feels like easy, casual reading material.

Thanks for diving into another Patrick book. The Neo pronouns are super annoying but it’s good to see he’s starting out better this time around with his story.

Been listening to the audiobook of Patrick's first published novel The Ark. There's already a detailed review by @OtherLastTrainHome, so I'll just say this: Rick is gaaaaaaaaay!

While Rick's self-insert is the gigachad main character, Bryan Tomlinson Benson, who will stop at nothing to get to the truth (even down to direct references to Rick's own life like a drowned six-year-old girl), the only section so far that feels like it has any kind of emotional truth is this:

Tl;dr: there's a gay character, Feng, who is married to a woman because he wants children. Although the society is totally cool with gays, they don't let them have children because it's not a good use of resources on a colony ship, or something like that. So Feng keeps lying to his wife while secretly having a gay affair, because he just... needs more.

I think this is autobiographical. That's why Patrick's first, better wife left him. When she got pregnant, Rick decided to reveal his dark secret, as he thought having a child together meant there's no backing out for her anymore. Instead, she realized Rick is a psycho who used her, and wanted nothing more to do with him.

While I normally wouldn't say an author is gay just because he writes an in-the-closet character, in this case that's exactly what happened. Ok, not really. But maybe. Possibly. Almost certainly.

I suspect he wrote that because at the time he planned on kidnapping Annabelle to generate publicity for his book.

Fat would kidnap Annabelle hide her in the pepperoni dungeon and publish the book, then squeeze out tears and shamelessly get the newscasters to mention that he just published a book.

Why has he never started a podcast

Before the pests, before the farms, before Norm 11 Patrick was Patrick.

In those before times Patrick claims to have had car vandals and other people doing things to him he now calls stalkers. When he showed up in media in the before Norm 11 times it got picked apart.

These days his big claim to fame is his # of followers on X-twitter. A podcast, YouTube channel, or IRL Kick livestream would start from zero followers and wouldn't do much as what does Patrick have to recommend himself? He'd pull Kefflas scared awake kinda numbers. And the comments and donations would be filled with hate like "Mr. Tomlinson you are incorrect on that statement" or "Patrick, actual historical facts do not support your position." Patrick just can't handle such hate.

I’ve been convinced Pat is gay (or bi, which basically means gay) for awhile now. It makes sense and it ties all the other pieces of his meticulously crafted, self made persona together.

He covers up his homosexuality while simultaneously projecting it.
