That’s definitely part of it, that many of these people ostracized their own friends and family. I witnessed it many times. Mostly it’s the 2nd one but to add more nuance specifically for people like Anita and iDubbz - they cultivated a leftist audience and misread this event as their shot to get a big viral tweet.
