The fact that these CCPslop sites sell condoms never ceases to amuse me. If you use them, you're pretty much asking for a dick rash with a side of unplanned pregnancy.

I've used Romwe a bunch. I swear it's owned by the same people as Shein, or related, because I got several orders from Romwe with multiple items in Shein bags.

Clothes are still hit-and-miss. I got some items from Romwe (and Shein) that were trash. Like, the worst one was an orange sundress that literally felt like it was made of plastic. It was awful. But I have a bunch of oversized, boyfriend fit shirts from Romwe that I've worn for a couple years now and really love. They've held up well. Buy things that have reviews already, and even better if they have pics in the reviews.
Thank you! I have been scrolling around, and unfortunately so many things don't have any reviews, I'm not sure if it's because the reviews are separate depending on the country selected on the website, since my American friend seems to have a lot more reviews to read through. I was thinking if that's the case, I'll read the reviews on the US website, then pray the items are still the exact same on my country's website when I order >.< They really have some cool oversized shirts, and some jeans/shorts. I recently ordered a measuring tape to check my waist/etc, so that I can order some shorts and pants as well (I'm terrified of them being too big or too small, and if it costs money to send stuff back, I can't afford that hahaha)

Anyone know some good sellers that sell relatively good quality pins for backpacks / bags etc? Probably on AliExpress.

I placed my first Temu order the other day. Mostly because some friends of mine irl said the shipping is quick. I find the prices aren't actually all that amazing considering most items I ordered were also easy to find on Aliexpress for cheaper, or also on Shein for a comparable price.

My Temu order included a couple knock-off Realisation Par dresses. The Inez dress I got was actually alright. The material was poorer quality than I expected, but the pattern was acceptable. When I tried it on it fit alright. The Alba dress I got was god-awful. The print wasn't even close to the same, and the material felt very plastic-like. The Inez was $29, and the Alba was $32. At that price point I expected slightly better fabric quality. The Alba fit like a shapeless lump so I'll see if I can return it. They advertised both these products using the product photos from the Realisation Par website, so I honestly expected a better knockoff for the Alba than I got and my expectations weren't even that high.

Other items from my order included some wedge sandals that were just okay, and another pair of heels that were adequate. I have one more dress to try on that I didn't unpack yet. I got a strawberry bracelet that was higher quality than I expected. I also got a handbag with that straw-type material for the summer that was actually way nicer looking than I thought it would be and it was only $16. I also grabbed some random items for my bathroom.

Overall, I don't get the hype with Temu. I paid about $140 altogether with this order and I appreciate they gave me free, very fast shipping. But to me the main upside is the convenience of their app because it feels better to navigate than Aliexpress. Aliexpress is still the better choice for more options and cheaper prices if you can wait to receive your items.

I avoid most of these Chinese sites like the yellow fever. Most of the things I’ve purchased off of Temu, AliExpress, Taobao, and SHEIN have either ripped by their fifth wear, have components break off after two weeks, or just feel awful, like, most of their clothes feel like they’re made of cheap swimsuit material.

Seriously, just shop from thrift stores and charity centers.

Clothing is hit or miss on temu, and hit isnt stellar. Amazon has done far better for items i can't thrift. Last time I was in a clothing store in a mall I was horrified by the quality and price so.. anyhow. Crafting supplies have been banging though, especially for things I want to try out and not seriously invest in. $20 of various purchases and I have a full kit to try out new thing? Super! Dont like it at all? Off to the craft thrift store it goes.

Largely the same items being resold on Amazon and etsy (rip old etsy)

One off party decorations have also so far been baller. Same shit as Amazon ar 1/4 the price. Don't mind if I do kkthx. I can't diy it cheaper and it's no worse quality than anywhere else. Mind you this is for things that im obligated to help with and nobody has any delusions they be kept and reused a ton. I hate the disposable culture of it but if I gotta, im gonna cheap. Not where my Christmas table set comes from, definitely where "help with the birthday decor for the 10 year olds party" is.

I need clothes really bad. Being tempted by this cheap trash all the time is started to wear on me. I know I shouldn't buy it. And I don't like synthetics anyway. But I'm at a loss as to how to afford clothing. Sometimes I luck out with the discount rack. I might try some thrift shops. I don't want to support fast fashion if I can help it. The working conditions are horrific and it's very wasteful. So much of this stuff ends up in landfills.

I figured the quality was pretty bad. I think people get addicted to the cheap prices and younger, less experienced shoppers just don't get why cheap doesn't equal a good buy yet.

You mean from anywhere, or specifically from Chinese websites? If it’s the former, then I can point you to some cute shops on Etsy.

Also Redbubble is a good bet if you want your pins more customized. I’ve had my Redbubble pins on my workbag for 3 years now and they’re still holding up.

I guess i just want a place where i can order pins with any image i want, and that the pins also arent that expensive per piece. (ALSO that theyre relatively quality and will hold up.)

You guys. I don't want to admit it. But I've been buying a lot of watch parts off ali. They're insanely high quality and dirt cheap. Can build a clone with better specs than the Seiko offering for 35 bucks vs 600 for the same watch but worse. I now have clones of seamasters, submariners, tunas... If you're willing to suss out the good parts and spend an hour putting the parts together, you can make wicked, wicked custom watches for pennies.

Built my wife her first big girl watch this week. Bubble sapphire crystal. Cathedral hands. WW2 style frogman case. 200m WR. Vintage fully lumed dial. Automatic Seiko movement. Cost me 25 bucks. For those of you who know, getting those specs at that price is like paying used Honda civic price for a new Mercedes.

Temu, i've bought a few pins recently the quality was just as good as real stuff. Obviously you need to really scrutinize the pictures but i've had one on my haversack that's lasted ages no scuffs or chipping.

I bought a ton of Aliexpress pins last year for gift purposes. The quality was variable. Generally the metal enamel ones were okay, but a few of them were very much "you get what you pay for", either in terms of metal strength or the quality of the enameling. If you're heavily into artist rights, however, do keep in mind that most of the designs- on everything- are stolen.

Things like stationary and crafting materials I trust and never had problems with usually I get those from Aliexpress. I've gotten t-shirts from shein and they've all been great. Even got shoes (8-10$) from them to wear at a wedding, since I never wear high heels otherwise and they've been surprisingly comfortable and nice. Also got small handbags to use one time (also for a specific outfit) but they've been so nice I have used them again. Things like hair accessories and stuff have been pretty great quality especially for the price you pay for them. Wouldn't really trust them for things like electronics, always afraid they might catch fire or something.

This is exactly how I feel about this stuff and the same kind of items I'll purchase. I've actually never had terrible quality high heels from any Chinese slop site, and actually it's been the flats that I've given up buying from them. Same with handbags, usually they're okay. If it's a style I'm not going to wear all the time and just need occasionally then it's been worth it for me. Same with shirts and such, usually those are all fine, especially for the price point. I have a few really cute collared shirts from Shein, too, that are pretty soft and have held up. Sometimes I'll take a chance on other types of clothing but I never have high expectations and am not surprised if an item sucks.

Jewelry I'll buy sometimes for fun. I've gotten a few pieces that I was legit surprised how nice they were when I only paid a couple bucks and I still have them. Others were just alright to wear once or twice before they tarnished.

The thrift stores around me are overrun with stuff from Shein and the like now anyway, and they'll often try to charge more for them than what you'd actually pay for those items new. Consignment stores, though, are still a good bet for brand name items.

I buy brand name for things I use or wear often, like staple handbags and shoes or daily clothing.

Unfortunately, thrift shopping over the past 5 years has become a little bit of a shitshow. Lots of the things that end up in thrift shops nowadays are fast fashion crap, unfortunately. It's not a fruitless effort to check out some thrift shops, but just keep in mind that you have to search harder for something good these days.

In my opinion, if there's one thing worth "splurging" on, it's jeans. Get yourself a really good pair of jeans that fit you well and that make you feel comfortable, because jeans can totally make or break an outfit. Then if you have to, do some fast fashion when it comes to shirts. Spend your money wisely by knowing what clothing items are "worth it" and what clothing items you are willing to budget for.

In recent years, you know what has been my best friend in regards to spending wisely on clothes? eBay. I do a lot of thrifting on eBay. You can search for something that you specifically want via eBay, and a lot of the time it's affordable because they're used/already worn clothes. For example, one of the few modern clothing stores that I find to still be of pretty decent quality is LOFT (which can get expensive). You can easily find thrifted LOFT clothing on eBay, for significantly cheaper. Might be a little more expensive than, let's say, Temu or a thrift store, but you're getting good quality clothes for less.

Also: Don't feel bad for being tempted to buy fast fashion. The economy is kicking everyone's ass right now and lots of people just plain don't have a choice.

I'm a bit extra with my nails and DIY them because otherwise it's ridiculously expensive. I've had some really great results with nail polishes from shein (and they're full sized 15ml+) as well as other nail art accessories and tools, and also stickers from aliexpress in particular are phenomenal. I've always LOVED stickers but I can't justify $3 for one sticker sheet at an irl chink shop. I can, however, justify $3 for 30+ sticker sheets from aliexpress and they look very cute in my $2 sticker storage book before I find a home for them on a set of press-ons.
Me and my now-husband used to go on wish.com to find silly presents for each other. I think I won with the 20g of gallium metal that came up with one of those "FREE PRODUCT JUST PAY SHIPPING" deals. Sure, we might have mercury poisoning, but at what cost? I can tell you: $5.
