Rather than argue the specifics of what a child can and cannot be expected to do on their own, I’d just like to point out again that Good Lawgic is still essentially admitting the following:

1. The Rekieta household had basically no structure despite both parents being home full time.
2. Nick and Kayla at best did not notice that their children stank and needed new clothes.
3. Nick and Kayla at worse did not care enough to instruct them to bathe or change their clothes.

In attempting to minimize the severity of the parents’ neglect they are essentially confirming it. Parents have a responsibility to keep their children fed and cleaned. Period.

These people are lawyers, they’re supposed to be good at picking apart arguments. Saying “it’s the kids’ fault!” is conceding the point that the parents either didn’t notice or didn’t care.

Kids "stepping up" to do things like this shouldn't be because mommy and daddy are strung out or are too busy fucking around. A kid should only feel the need to "step up" during times of a family emergency or something else outside of the parents' control. EVS is such a scumbag, completely ignoring why the kids are even in that situation to begin with in these Tweets.

Also, it's probably been brought up already, but been seeing plenty of retweets from Eric July this morning of people who have gotten their Yaira comics, along with many others who have had their issues shipped. Eric has put out a few of his own comics, while working with others to release others, as well as working on other projects, logistics, and physical work to keep the Rippaverse moving in the last two-ish years. Maybe EVS should take the Balldo out of his mouth and start working on his own shit so that any remaining fans he has can at least get one book every few years.

I'll say this, a good number of kids can look after themselves for a limited time. They can change their own clothes, bathe, make a sandwich, even tidy up but we're talking about a few hours of "looking after themselves" at most. And most kids don't have crack head parents who spend all day fucking the 20 something coked out whore sex toy.

What's been happening at the Rekieta household is that the resilience the kids had and the recourses available to them have been used up. The kids have had to make do with what they had. Fucking Lord of the Flies shit.

"But the 16 year old should've done blah blah blah..." How'd you know he didn't? Someone must have been doing the bare minimum to keep these kids alive and it wasn't the junkies. What home inspection? CPS won't be in his home until time for kids to come home.(If it gets there). First, Nick has to get use to running all over town for HIS classes, now. Those CPS classes, drug tests, psych evaluations, court, and everything will keep the roads hot.
