I'm sure people will shit on me for this but unless the kids were locked in a basement their entire lives with no access to the internet or TV a 16 year old is absolutely capable of cooking (if there's food to be cooked) and doing laundry. 100 years ago 13 year old girls were raising families, doing laundry (the hard way), cooking, cleaning, etc all by themselves with no access to the internet. Literally all a 16 year old would have to do in 2024 is open Google and type "how do I do laundry", "how do I cook food", etc. Pretending it's impossible or even improbable that a 16 year old with internet access could figure these things out is kind of ridiculous.

That being said it's 100% the parents responsibility to make sure things get done one way or another.

Kayla is anorexic and Nick is not too far behind her, if not for police intervention she would likely be dead within two months and Nick would probably not be too far behind her, if he hasn't already overdosed by then. Does EVS expect these kids to bury their parents on their own as well? These kids are literally watching their parents killing themselves and they don't understand why, mommy and daddy don't seem to care about them and get angry at them all the time, maybe it's their fault that mommy and daddy are sick, this shit is already fucking traumatic enough for those children.
I don't understand how anyone could still be making excuses for and shifting responsibility off those Junkie parents and onto their (likely) traumatised children.

It's even worse. If you check the zillow posting posted earlier in the thread (zillow) it appears as though the laundry machine is part of the large walk-in closet. Now, I don't know where exactly this closet is located, however I would not be surprised if it is located near the master bedroom. I don't know if I was a 16 year old kid that I would want to go in there and make noise by having the washing machine run while your dad and mom are either coked out of their minds, fucking some strange couple or are coming down.

I'm not talking about physical or neurophysiological limitations that would prevent them from doing chores. It's everything they grew accustomed to.
They're both spoiled and neglected at the same time. I had a friend like that in high school. His clothes must've cost 3x as much as mine as a baseline, but he stank as well. He wasn't dumb by any means.
Just like they describe in the reports of the Rekeita household, he too had to pull clothes from a couch completely full with clean laundry, because the stacks would never make it into the closet. No horizontal surface in the house that's not covered with either everyday detritus, bills, documents, packaging, or antiques from around the world. Disused basement a free-for-all cat toilet. Disused second story guest room filled to the chest line with junk. They were rich by most definition of the word. They also had maids that quit.
Was my friend incapable of cooking for himself, doing his own laundry, keeping his room clean when the rest of the house was a warzone? No. Did he have a mental path that led to him taking on these responsibilities? Also no. It's all he's ever known. Being taken care of.
P.S.: He was one of the earliest from my friend group to get his own apartment, and it's very orderly.

Balldo also yelled at his 6-year-old once for wandering into his streamer dungeon. When I was a kid, the master bedroom was a "no go" zone.
Depending on the laundry arrangement, it might not even be possible for a kid to access it. The dryer at my work apartment is installed at head level. I wouldn't be able to reach that without a stool when I was 13.

Dryers are also not child-friendly, what if the water tank is full? A 13-year-old might not be strong enough to pull it out and empty it.
Dryers require maintenance, does this fat idiot expect the child to clean all the dust after using it? 5 kids, the water tank will get full real quick and the dust will need to be cleaned multiple times.
I guess they can hang the clothes outside, get a ladder, yeah? Give me a break. A child shouldn't be required to do their own laundry without parental assistance.
What about the washing liquid? Some of them still use secure caps to make sure kids won't open them to drink its contents.

Why aren't the oldest children stepping up and taking care of their younger siblings when their parents are strung out on coke and booze for days at a time. If the children only kept the house tidy and microwaved their own spaghettios, Nick and Kayla would have never been arrested. It's the kids fault.

Edit: All these Nose Guards expect Nick's children to grow up fast to parent for him while he goes into his self induced midlife crisis. Maybe if Nick and Kayla were raising their children instead of schnozing the snow, they kids would possess the skills to take care of themselves.
