Another element to "why can't a 16 year old parent 4 children" is that multiple junkies also lived in the house and I'm not sure they all went to all the same activities at the same time. So you might have hours where it's only the younger kids, for example. A 16 year old is going to be in different church/homeschool groups than a 6 year old.

I can also totally see the house having rules such as "Don't run the laundry machine while daddy is streaming/sleeping, it's too loud" or being too afraid to go into certain rooms or leave your bedroom when they're having a fight or strung out.

You might be too afraid to leave your bedroom all night and into the morning, hearing them going on a coke binge. Then at 8oclock it's "Get in the car right fucking now" without any breakfast, shower, change of clothes, no lunch packed.

Yes you might say "well I know very independent 16 year olds" but I'll remind you again that Nick literally had a gun under his bed and was coked out, sleeping with multiple other people in that bed too. Do you really expect a boy to go confront his father like that? To go knock on his door and ask to go to the grocery store? Nick was apparently the type to hit himself in fights. I cannot imagine the blow-ups of "do you think I don't love you?" and other narcisistic threats if his son made some big confrontation.

Not to mention the likilihood of depression or anxiety in any number of the children.

Tldr: not the 16yo's responsibility to take care of the household

They may have kept the rant from her before she signed the warrant, but a cop watched the full video. They know. She knows unless they're being far less gosspy than any EMS personnel I've ever known.

There's a huge difference between having your 16 year old help with his siblings and expecting your 16 year old to be a surrogate father.

*The things he alleged before the arrest were true.

*The stories he told “Snow Angel” etc, BEFORE the arrest has been corroborated at least in one instance.

*His stories and “testimony” haven’t changed in any significant way.

*He generally comes across as truthful. You don’t see any of the typical liars tells, and most answers come without any weaving.

*He resists the temptation to sensationalize stuff. If he really wanted to make the Farms happy, we’d be hearing about Drexel and gay shit and Nick getting pegged with a balldo.

That seems reasonable to me. I think Aaron is downplaying his involvement but I don't think anything he said is an outright lie. It's just missing information that would make him look bad. For instance how much cocaine he was doing or his level of impairment at the time.

There are lots of (for example) immigrant families where you see 8 kids and the oldest ones are taking care of the younger ones.

The difference here is that the oldest Rekieta kid was never prepared for anything like that.

He was just living his life, being a kid, when things suddenly started imploding a year or two ago.

Stuff like that can mess up a kid real good. The youngest ones will likely be alright long term, but the older they are the bigger the impact.
