I also think this is WHY he'll get a plea deal. Their place becoming a trap house in a year due rapid onset drug abuse is a factor they'll consider. People who have a very fast descent like Nick did, realistically have a chance to recover fully, should they choose to get help. The court isn't going to hinder that. I think the quick onset of this is going to play a big factor in whether or not they do ultimately see the slammer and for how long. I really don't buy that if they start a fast recovery that's promising that courts won't agree to a plea deal. However that would involve humility and having a path to recovery. Nick shows no signs of either yet. If he has his "Slap In the Face" moment and realizes what's really going on over the next couple of months, he might be able to salvage his life. If he keeps acting like a fuckwad or worse, takes Barnes as his lawyer, he's going to rot in prison for a decade due to minimum sentencing. Possibly more.

No, Nick is a full blown alcoholic. You don't go back to drinking on occasion from that, after you get past withdrawal and you're no longer at risk of keeling over from going cold turkey you stop drinking period. You avoid people who drink, you avoid places that serve alcohol, you do everything in your power to not be tempted to drink again.

Nick needs to check himself into rehab and have someone who loves him purge his house of the booze. All of it.

Now much like your post, this was an exercise in futility because Nick has shown even being arrested and accused of neglecting his kids isn't rock bottom for him. He's traded out his plane for the Titan II submersible and is headed for the Mariana's Trench.

the trick I m told is to mix it with a little bit of meth and that way you stay awake to enjoy to the high instead of nodding off.

for nick I think the cocain allowed him to stay up and drink more,
