I'm going to give my speculations after lurking for days, reading pages on end and seeing the streams/the information on the streams. I was a watcher of Nick in the beginning of his "streaming career" with kick vic. I stopped around the Amber Heard stuff, only occasionally listening in, after that I didn't watch him at all. I'm going with a theory on all this, and by no means am I trying to defend Nick (albeit I had HOPED he wasn't always like this), but women are a lot more cunning and manipulative than people think. And a man with many insecurities can easily get flat lined by a woman who is controlling and emotionally manipulative.
From the beginning when I would watch Nick, when he would talk about the kids, I thought "what a good dad/man." He always mentioned having to drive them around, or take them places. This guy was doing nightly streams then having to watch over his kids. There were instances where he would take care of his sick kids (because he would be sick), and have to take breaks in between streams to go check up on/check up on them in general. In fact there were a few times that his kids would come into his streaming room. (Hear their voice, he would ask them what they're doing awake/in his room and he would have to send them back to bed/help them back to bed.) Eventually I started to think to myself "you know... where's his wife?" but since he claimed to have narcolepsy, I just figured she was watching the kids during the majority of the day. I never watched streams where she was on them. I wasn't bothered by her, but weirdly enough I didn't care about her either. There was something that just signaled into my head that his wife was a "woman moment". But I had fully believed even still they were a happy family.
After seeing these a few things, like how supposedly she would just get high and watch shows or the clip where she takes about "being a failure of a mom/wife/sister/friend/daughter/etc..." and having "all these mental problems" I thought, "Oh man this woman is a piece of work isn't she?" I don't think people realize that a women who can easily use their mental illness to create emotional manipulation is more common than people think. I know a lot people are easy to blame men, because yes they can be abusive and controlling but a woman is controlling and manipulative. She'll control every aspect of your life and then blame you for it. To me, it made me realize that perhaps she wasn't really pulling her weight, in addition it's clear that her drugs for her mental illness' were already a problem.
I think by the time Nick was hitting it big, the marriage/their family unit was already showing disarray, but the problem is, is that Nick is an insecure man, so what does that mean? Well he can't show his fans/audience that he's stuck in a marriage he got trapped in with a woman who constantly can't help herself - he has to still present himself as the big strong libertarian guy who can't tell him what to do. He has to show he's the MAN, he's the HUSBAND. So instead of just admitting there were problems and getting help, or just even getting a divorce for something that he was unhappy in. (In her case too, since she clearly was very unhappy by her bemoaning of being a failure). They went into this "well we'll just pretend nothing is wrong, and starting living a hedonistic life style because everyone is doing that! Let's just do drugs and start swinging and we'll back to each other at the end of the night and everything will be okay!"
They're both still assholes, because at the end they were both self serving and not ever once thought of how this would effect their kids. I think that Kayla was already a problem, and Nick just exacerbated that. Regardless of who introduced the drugs, the other still did it willingly. Even if Nick did introduce them, by no way do I think Kayla was forced since she already seemed to have a problem with "substance abuse", and if she introduced them, then Nick just kept allowing his wife to control his life with no end lol. Same goes with everything else that lead them up to this point.
This only makes it more clear for me on this theory since even Aaron said Kayla wouldn't own up to her mistakes, despite "claiming" that she "wanted to stop" (I don't believe that truth be told, I mean look at her mugshot too lol, and then laughing in the court room. Even Nick has more dignity to just sit there and respond).
My point in this is that they are both equally responsible for the shithole they created it, I don't think it's "fair" to lay blame on a signal party, even if Nick is a self serving asshole now. I know a lot of people are unhappy with Nick and don't like him, especially since he's the face of it all but I think that makes it easy. I don't trust her even for a second either.
