I think you misunderstood the relationship. Kurt is like a 50 year-old loser who’s never had friends. Rekieta was the conman who used him and Kurt couldn’t see it.

So one kid isn't there. Probably the oldest. Probably at school. So why were the four other kids in the house? Shouldn't they be at their home school "pod" around that time. I'm thinking the child abuse/neglect is a lot worse than we realize. I'm betting the younger kids haven't been in school for some time.
