ASVAB is an exam administered to applicants for the military to determine their fitness to serve and in what capacities.

ACT is an exam taken by prospective college students to determine their admissibility and to qualify for scholarships.

AP exams are taken by prospective college students to earn advance college credits in basic courses.

Why the fuck would he do that?

It’s highly likely that he ducked out of college after a semester or two. So maybe he did ok on those, but for literally no point.

It's possible to do so badly on the ASVAB that you don't qualify for enlistment in the military. It's also possible to qualify, but not for an occupational speciality that would satisfy his ego.

I am sure it is possible to fail out at that stage.
The military can’t have enlistees so god damn stupid they are a danger to themselves and others. Despite the semi popular belief that soldiers are often thick and can’t find work elsewhere.

The point though is that Fatrick was claiming that his score on this test proved him to be intelligent.
So that implies that he took it, did well, then as he didn’t join, he must have changed his mind.
Fatrick likes to pretend that he is a big strong man who is skilled at fighting and guns. No way he wouldn’t have joined up had he had the opportunity.

It’s a lie like the people who claim they got rejected from university because they were too smart.
 
A lot of HS kids take the ASVAB if their school offers it to get a few free periods out of class.

You'd be surprised how many dumbasses actually fail the ASVAB when trying to join. Lowest overall score I ever saw was a 14. Granted, most of them who fail straight up can't read. Fatrick seems to at least be able to do that (though his reading comprehension is questionable.) However, that doesn't change the fact that bragging about ASVAB scores is cringe and people who show up to their first duty station that try to brag about them are relentlessly fucked with until they learn their place. The ASVAB is NOT a measure of intelligence by any means.

It seems that a lot of his extended family served in the military, maybe there was an expectation he'd join as well.

A classmate of mine failed the asvab. He had to get a tutor and he STILL couldn't pass it. This was the height of operation Iraqi freedom too (dox me !) and even then, the military didn't want him. Imagine being that fucking stupid.
