I think I said it before but in case I didn't the rage I think stems from what null theorizes about destiny and his adherance to whatever TPTB believe. Pat KNOWS that in any other time or type of society he would be living a life more suitable for the rube he is (digging ditches or something an alcoholic swarthy peasant man can wrap his brain around)

but instead we are in a society that lets losers like this coast off of the largesse of his betters, scamming PPP loans, shucking insurance to dementia patients, etc. Under any other system he wouldn't have the ability to be the patrick we know and love and somewhere subconsciously he knows his way of life is threatened if conditions do not remain more or less exactly as they were in the post-cold war era.
