Ignoring the myriad of problems with the people who populate that organization, I'm curious if there are tax-related (or other legally obligated reasons) that they have to do shit for their 'members' to enjoy their status as a non-profit.

I imagine if Patty is/was a member in good standing and if he came to them requesting help, they'd be obligated to help his fat ass out. They are a 501(c) 3 public charity, but I don't know enough about that shit to know if that matters at all.

They do say that they "assist members in various legal disputes" and also offer "grants" for medical or legal expenses.

If what I'm theorizing is tracking, I would venture to guess Patty probably misrepresented the full details of his lolsuit to SFWA and once they got a clearer picture, is why they dropped him like a hot potato.

Which means Patrick Tomlinson is such an abhorrent, repugnant fat fuck with bitch tits that not even a cabal of geriatric pedophiles want anything to do with him.
