I'm not attacking you for posting that but the idea is still dumb, and even the subject matter concedes it's a thought experiment. If you spent enormous sums of money you could make a floating city in Venus, maybe. What then? There are no accessible resources there. They don't even have water, one of the most plentiful resources in the universe. So you have to ship in all of your building materials, all of your fuel, you wouldn't be able to manufacture anything with precision because there's no way you're keeping your city stable when it's being buffeted by winds. Venus is literally a money pit, there is nothing that adds value there except basic scientific research of what a fucked up planet looks like which we could do with unmanned probes. The only credible value I read so far is you could slingshot ships to Mars using its gravity assist, but that doesn't require a permanent presence. You'd be better off building space habitats in the asteroid belt than colonizing Venus. You could at least then produce materials without having to launch them out of orbit. It also might be (probably would be) safer to live there. I don't know why anyone would waste time talking about colonizing Venus, even if you think colonizing Mars is done to death as a subject.
