All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Listening to the video, it sounded very Opie & Anthony/Howard Stern-esque. Like, the dude's not going around literally grabbing women by the pussy, it's facetious to be funny in a grim way.

That being said, when you're running for president, it doesn't sound good to Joe and Jane Voter. The only silver lining I can see to this is that the "Family Values" sub-element of the GOP is finally exposed as a hypocritical, pandering fraud and we can finally start burning them out like a cancer before 2020.
We already HAD exposed them and it helped give control of Congress to the Democrats in '06. The moralists in the party are trying to justify not just shutting down help to him. Hannity tried to equate it with David's 500 concubines for fuck's sake.
This won't cause a massive realignment unless the establishment go into exile. Its the ones so intent on making it a 'workers' party that will be cut off.

Yeah, don't guys say shit like this frequently? On top of that he said it 20 years ago.
Remember when the most disgusting sexist thing said by a GOP presidential candidate in an election years was "binders full of women"
I think the democrats have always nailed the GOP with women. Remember the "War on Women" thing some years back? The GOP in general has in recent times had trouble attracting minorities.

Kiwis, you have no idea how many people I personally know who've voted solid Democrat their entire lives are planning to vote Trump this one election just because the Hillary camp seems to be completely fucking insane and getting worse.

What isn't understood.

What I hope we can learn from this: When hilldog is elected that we don't fucking warp history.
Don't paint it as some big victory over the evil of bigotry and not just a free win.
Also pls don't whitewash hilldog's shit when she is in office.

As a particularly hilarious Hillary supporter told my dedicated shitposting Twitter over the prospect of voting third-party:

And many Republicans can say the same about trump

going to college/university to have a teacher tell you what to read, then tell you what you should think about what
you have read does not mean you smarter than the poor, unwashed masses.

Maybe it's just me, but if I needed surgery I'd rather have one of those college graduates who actually learned how to perform surgery as my doctor over someone who dropped out of high school. I'd also be more inclined to believe a history major over a ranting lunatic who thinks the jews have rewritten history.

My hope is that even if a Trump presidency accomplishes nothing of note it will at least shake up the political establishment to the extent that better people have a hope to run successfully in the future. To people like me Trump is a puppet and a useful idiot, nothing more and certainly nothing less.

That's like saying "I don't like the color of my car...I'll set it on fire." While taking care of the problem it does so in a way that is destructive and causes new problems.

I think the democrats have always nailed the GOP with women. Remember the "War on Women" thing some years back? The GOP in general has in recent times had trouble attracting minorities.

And it will only get worse. The GOP has spent decades telling minorities that they don't want their votes and barely consider them human. Now it's probably too late for them to go "Naw, we didn't mean it."

Hasn't Hillary paid people to derail topics on pol?

Wouldn't she be too busy faking Hurricane Mathew to trick people into thinking climate change is real?

I see this a lot actually. People on either side cannot conceive that someone might support the other candidate (who is evil incarnate), so to have the world make sense decide that anyone who supports them must be being paid (or is evil themselves and voting for them out of sheer malevolence).

Whereas your solution appears to be doing nothing and letting the fire spread and burn down the rest of the neighborhood.

Brilliant.

Academia tends to beciome an echo chamber, though. "Wrong" and "different" viewpoints are either sidelined or suppressed, same as any group.

Better the whole thing burns than rust.

And the Dems dehumanize them by making a commodity of their votes, and doing jackshit for them once they get them.

Bellsario's Maxim.

You aren't evil. You're appallingly stupid.

GethN7, one of Wu's harshest critics actually did quite a pretty interesting article on this sort of thing recently. Basically, he compared it to William Jennings Bryan and William McKinley. Worth your time to read, but I'll cut right to the important part:

GethN7 said:
The interesting twist, though, is who is the outsider and who's the insider. Bryan championed "free silver" and other populist measures on behalf of a vocal minority, but did so as an outsider, whereas Hillary is championing a rejection of protectionism and is pro-globalism, yet doing so as an insider. Trump has taken up McKinley's positions (including a rejection of what was considered busybody moralism in Bryan's platform), yet is doing so as an outsider.

Even more interestingly, is the challenge faced by both candidates: Hillary must convince people who have seen eight years of the status quo to continue believing in it, even though there is a not insignificant amount of people against it, while Trump must convince a base with a wide diversity of opinion that there needs to be a change in the status quo.

He goes on to explain that Trump's task here is frankly much easier. I have a sneaking suspicion, given past experience, that he's right on this one, though I believe one quote from my uncle - ostensibly a Republican moderate - nicely surmises the feelings of many on this one:

Jaimas' Uncle said:
This election boils down to who you hate less.

So if the the local idiot insists that your headache is caused by evil spirits and he needs to remove them with a power drill he's not "wrong" and we should respect his "different" viewpoint? Or how about anti-vaxers?

You aren't evil. You're appallingly stupid.

Notice how I said I'd seen it on both sides.

Which would be a moot point of you hadn't set the fire in the first place. You assume that Trump will cause chaos and chaos will somehow make things better. But history shows that in fact more often than not chaos results in things getting much worse. Just look at Iraq and Syria.
