I've done the IRL tour of Ronnie's Crack Shack. The front is boarded up, but the back door is open to the elements and shit is falling apart on the inside. It's not livable (by normal people) without some major restoration work. Fun fact: there's a former Pizza Hut right around the corner from it, I'm sure a young Ralphie ate many a pizza pie at the buffet there

Salmon will travel thousands of miles to return to the place of its birth just to spawn a new generation and in the process change its body type from a salt water fish to a fresh water one where they die moments after. Ralph, much like Ronnie, has abandoned his own children and traveled thousands of miles to fuse in the very same chair Ronnie has. I’m sure Ralph’s children will undergo the same process of abandoning their children to later fuse with the chair and their children will to. What the evolutionary benefits of such a life cycle are is unknown but I can definitely say nature is fascinating.

I doubt Ralph ever visited Ronnie there. Sounds like this was Ronnie’s bachelor pad well after the divorce and his days getting assaulted by railyard hobos in California. Probably a place Ronnie’s dad or brother helped him build or fix up once he was on SSI for mental illness to ensure he’d always have a place to live. (Severe mental illness makes getting kicked out of rental units an ongoing issue.) Sounds like Ronnie had some skills in the construction trades and tried to build his home sweet home. (The house definitely looks like it was built from various supplies leftover from other projects or bought cheap as excess.)
Don’t get my hopes up. I figure Ralph is hard up, and lonely enough, to seriously consider the option. West Memphis weekly motel rents don’t cost much more than Mexico shack. Ralph trying to fix up Ronnie’s shack is the ultimate Ralph arc, so it won’t happen. I don’t think Ralph could even pay off the tax lien at this point.
And drug trades as well. Maybe Ralph went looking for some surviving friends of Ronnie to pitch them a new business idea. Boomers on opioids might appreciate Mexican viagra if they are not interested in downers.
