Every medical procedure, even something as common as a colonoscopy, carries a risk with it. The risk is small, but if there is no indication the procedure is even needed and you start doing it willy nilly, you are bound to end up with a couple of hurt asses for no benefit at all. Anisa is an idiot and I hate medical misinformation like that, but no one gives a shit about that, but lo and behold if you think the risk/benefit ratio of statins or god forbid a vaccine isn't quite there, you are gonna get struck down from social media.

There's an interesting point to be made about preventative screenings like colonoscopies for men or breast cancer screenings for women, namely false positives. There's many people to be screened, absolute numbers of cancer in the population are low, the rate for false positives is not zero. Meaning, in the worst scenario, you end up with more false positive than real positives, which can lead to more invasive tests and even treatment starts, all of which is not without chance for harm, especially psychologically. Medicine isn't really all that empirical imho, and I always felt someone with authority should take a hard look at the numbers and think about how many misdiagnoses and started, unneeded treatments is finding one genuine case of cancer is worth it.

It sounds exactly like what it is: Three, not particularly bright or interesting or charismatic people, being forced to talk for an hour or two.

I can endure it in snippets because of this thread, but I have NO IDEA why anyone would listen to it otherwise.

It's one of the saddest parts about this whole thing: Ian's not like Anisa, in the sense that he's not a born-to-fail fuckup. He was an entertaining, interesting, and engaging person that's had the life crushed out of him by a BPD golem. There's one clip where it looked like he was about to laugh in her face (she compares their podcast to the Joe Rogan Experience and he looks like he's about to laugh and call her a retard), and it's almost hilarious, but it's only for a moment before he remembers he's not allowed to have feelings other than misery.

The best thing that could happen to him is time away from her. If she left him, or even went on a vacation for 2-4 weeks without him, he'd probably feel a lot better. It'd be funny if he kept doing the podcast under the same title, but instead of cringe irony it was serious, and he addressed the fact that she DID ruin his career. Maybe even make it semi-focused on bad relationships, and do a combination of serious stories and funny anecdotes about crazy exes.

I don't know why they insist on making nearly 2 hour episodes. I've just checked the timestamps and this is their second longest episode after the pilot, and since episode 13 they've been making all of these around 1 1/2 hours and slowly increasing it, so it's probably a deliberate choice.
