I have to give him props for sheer dedication. Also he seems like a ok guy outside of GT so I can't really wish him anything but good luck.
 
I don't even mind. Giving Undertale to the Pope was a huge meme and even he himself recognized how stupid it was.

Given how many YouTubers end up doing some horrendously embarrrassing shit, I'd say he did a great job with his channel. He got himself a wife, a kid, a big fat bank account and now he is moving on. As all things should go.

As much as people meme on him for the amount of FNAF videos too, everyone still found them interesting, even people who had no idea what FNAF even is. I cannot tell you how many people watch him without even knowing the source material he is talking about because it's fun to see him theorize.

The guy built a brand from the ground up, and managed to stay consistent for 10 years without any big scandals or faggotry happening. I'd say it's worthy of praise.

I still hold that Matt was always somewhat full of himself or at least tried to put on a know-it-all persona as part of his effort to make a “science and video games” series, but that the money and fame really got to his head and he underwent channel decay after his early FNAF theories made Matt even more notable than he was. Even so, I would hope he can at least try to keep a healthy private life instead of turning into a full-blown Boogie disaster.
 
I'm more curious to see just how far this channel will fall once the main man himself has finally stepped away from what made it successful in the first place. Because "YouTuber pawning off their channel to someone else" almost never goes well for the channel itself, and what follows is a slow and painful death of viewership and interest. It's certainly a win for Mat, but may just be a big loss for Game Theory itself.

Big scandals? In terms of truly depraved shit no, but faggotry? if you've skimmed around this thread then you'd know the dumb shit he's gotten into over the years that, while not cancel worthy, does still make him look like a faggot (i.e. "I gave the pope Undertale" and his responses to any backlash beforehand).
 
Hopefully, Matt's family have a long and healthy life, they earned it. But I have zero faith that the Theorist network is going to last for more than a couple of years.
 
MatPat is\was Game Theory, No Doubt this channel will die and fall into the dark pit of obscurity like what happened to =3. Darn. I remember when he did scientific stuff with games instead of lore stuff. Say what you want, at least he isn't going out like a sperg trying to remain relevant well past his expiration date like many other YouTubers. Another old guard of the website gone.

This is full soy, nothing of value was lost, most people on the internet dont like him and as much as I feel bad that another old internet guy is gone, hes a zoomer panderer. I dont care. Im sure next couple of years we're gonna see the second gen of youtube quit, looking forward to mark jack and felix quitting next, probably.

Edit: I saw the video completely, that Lee guy is gonna troon out, Id place bets on that.
