I have to say, some of you make me wonder. It’s a completely normal thing for women to talk about the gym, saving for a house, their BF / husband, you know, life. I talk about all these things with coworkers regardless of who is around.

I understand attributing deeper meaning due to a tranny lurking around, but not all of us spend our time being passive aggressive as fuck. Some of us even express things directly. My how the world has changed. My BFF transitioned (MtF) in the late 1980’s. Those were the days when they had to have ongoing psych appoints for at least a year. He was about 30 before he snuck off to Thailand for the chop because he’d be forced to wait another year or more before getting waitlisted for surgery locally. Before he went though, he was advised by his psych to drop all friends that weren’t 100% fully supportive of their transition. He said the advice was because neither party would ever be truly comfortable with each other again. That was the last time I ever saw or heard from him. All his female friends were dumped. All I ever heard of him after that was that he was strip searched at the airport on his return to Australia, and that his surgery was botched, so would be seeking revision in the public health system in Australia. I do know his brother (who I had also been very close to and also wannabe MtF on E) 41% about a year later.

Guess what I’m saying is there was no pussy footing around the issue that family members and friends were going to be lost, and that the trans need trans support networks to get through. That was pre-internet, and definitely prior to the trans entitlement movement.
