I guess if the next one is a much better product set in more contemporary times, I think it's all worthwhile. Big emphasis on "if" though, seeing as I don't have much faith in DICE lately.
If they're making a season 7 then there's a chance that they aren't in charge of the next one.
I hope Vince Zampella knows what to do to save this franchise.

Helicopters weren't in 1943, unless you're talking about Vietnam. I remember shooting down a helicopter with an RPG. SO satisfying if you know how hard it is to lead a rocket.
Yeah, I meant Vietnam. Never played 1943.

In terms of Battlefield atmosphere, it's pretty simple: don't be fucking retarded and keep your setting in the established era without exception. Revert to the classic Battlefield fundamentals of class-based gameplay, enable male/female variants, and reduce running-and-gunning so squad cooperation is emphasised. Updating destructible environments to the next level would be nice too, but I doubt they have it in them.

Storywise? Needs a lot more help, but CoD isn't winning any awards for their work either. Maybe something like a campaign inspired from personal accounts in the Iraq War or something. The issue methinks is they'll walk on eggshells to avoid making villains and the whole thing would be a sterilised and"safe" experience.

I think they should drop the story and focus on the multiplayer (PvP, PvE modes).
After BF4 it's clear that they're afraid of China. BF2042 is just "climate change happened, now it's WW3" except that you don't fight for your country, you're some kind of mercenary?

Season 7 of BF2042 will be launching in March 2024:

You're apocalypse nomads. It's kind of a cool idea but it's still boring futureshit.

Hopped in and briefly tried out the Christmas event for Week 1, which was basically Hardcore BF3 (everyone's got 40 Health). Honestly would prefer the game to be more like that. Helicopters were a bit fragile, but it was nice having people be less spongy.

As for story, I agree it would be best to drop it if it makes for tangible improvements to multiplayer fir future titles (and maybe an offline bot nultiplayer). That, and also if EA/DICE remain too afraid to cast real countries as story antagonists. They should've told China it was just a fucking story to put them in the game and tough shit.

On the opposite end, Week 2 is a lame attempt at the Infection gametype. Avoid like the plague.

I know I said I'd never try 2042 because of its launch, but how is the current state of the game?

I do have BF1 downloaded, want to play that for Christmas again.

Do BF 1 and 5 still have active MP on PC?

Curious since they're both like 4 bucks on steam right now.

On PC the matchmaking will send you to an empty server. As for the browser, it works half the time.
It's quite telling that Battlefield on console is more accessible than its target platform. EA does not care one bit.

Also, I hate revive spam in Battlefield.

This video and its gags aged quite well.

"It's just a team, Simon ... it's a game."

People claim BF1 is infested with hackers. They also claim it has generous servers. I don't notice much of the former but for me the latter is completely untrue, there's only one server (a fucking Turning Tides rotation) that is reliable. Game is basically dead for me.

BF1 ended up having a terrible season pass. They Shall Not Pass was incredible (maybe one of the best DLCs ever made for ANYTHING), then every one after that was piss with just one genuinely good map. Lupkow Pass and Galicia, Zeebrugge, and Passchendaele. The rest, piss, or functional but not good enough to have warranted the time they took to make it.

BFV was worse, DICE refused to make content that people wanted. No Normandy map, only Pacific content.
normandy is overdone to be fair. i want more north african and italian campaign stuff. too bad the stopped making new shit for this 2 years after launch

That brings up memories of BF4, I remember the maps for that being pretty bad. Which is weird because the maps for BF3 were great.
