Not exactly true. Plastic surgery or otherwords surgery that is concerned about appearance can be medicine. Sure often times it's just about vanity but many times when something looks off, it also works off. It's not exactly a clear line between the two. Also if you are going to go there anyway, you might as well make look better at the end.
Add to that many plastic surgery methods just get overall better results. For example scars won't move like rest of the skin. Scars can cause pain, limit movement and reopen more easily. So putting extra effort like in plastic surgery to avoid scars or think where to place them is often better for the parent anyway.
That to be said plastic surgery is still surgery and as such dangerous. You should be extremely careful when and if you do it. Surgery like that can improve your life but can also cause irreversible and irreparable damage.
