To sum up, if you have to play this niche franchise, just stick to the first three games. Do not bother with DR4 at all.
Isn't the third Disaster Report game usually considered the weakest, precisely because it was held back by the technical limitations of the PSP?

I'm personally more interested in City Shrouded in Shadow, but that game never got an English release, nor was it ever released anywhere else but on the PS4, which basically cosigns the game to obscurity.

It would be if Disaster Report 4 wasn't so much of a trainwreck. But otherwise, DR2 remains the best.

Probably a bit better than DR4 from the looks of it, even if it came out a year earlier, although it might not mean much.
I won't deny the premise looks interesting (the average joe trying to survive in a city where giant monsters & mechas from Ultraman, Godzilla, Evangelion, Patlabor, Gamera Heisei are all thrown together) but I doubt this will be ever ported either on Switch or PC because of the licensing.

The same goes for me, just in that I want my last console to end this hobby on a high note.
I'm still too young to call the Switch my last console. Plenty of console games I haven't played yet, and don't have a PC/laptop powerful enough to emulate much more than maybe a 16 bit game. I'm excited to see what the future holds, especially Nintendo, who still seems focused on making pure consoles

This gives me bad flashbacks to the drought of smt 5 news, and I pray that the new protagonists for MS Tactics aren't going to be disgusting fujoshit bait like the non-binary Marth rip off ended up being.
Since when hasn't the SMT MC been like that? Oh boy, I sure hope Mario's hat isn't red this time.

Since in most SMT games, to be fair.

But also

When has a Metal Slug protagonist been a non-binary Marth ripoff?

I have this, and neither are particularly "bad".
I'm having to play City using my phone and Google Translate, which is kind of a slog, but they definitely feel like they are in the same family, so to speak.

Its good trivia but clicking on link after link after link brings me to the Famiboards thread, where they reveal that this is actually just part of a larger BN studio reorganization where "Bandai Namco Studios" is being publicly reoganized into five different groups. So, its not really a change and this particular team has been making games together since the age of Wii shovelware (they did We Ski/Go Vacation.)

Literally a third of my Switch library is Arcade Archives or ACA Neo Geo.
Same. Maybe more actually, I'd have to count. I have less buyer's regret from blind buying random $8 arcade games that I could just as well emulate in MAME than I do from buying actual Switch games.

So one thing that I've complained about in the past and (and @Calandrino being a man of culture might have noticed too) is when the Switch has a lot of redundant releases.
Yeah, not necessarily specific to Switch, but Switch gets the most retro collections so it's most affected. Certain games like Pac-Man, Sonic 1-2, Wonder Boy 1 etc keep coming out over and over again. Most commercial emulation basically sucks, thankfully Arcade Archives can be trusted for accuracy and minimal input lag. Other than that you have to research it, and you can't even trust the average user review. That TMNT collection (for example) got "9/10 this DEFINED my childhood" types of reviews despite having serious problems.

The ACA Neo Geo line is complete, except for whatever they couldn't get due to rights issues. I feel bad for the games left out. I wouldn't count on that Visco collection being as good as AA releases.

Make a new Splatterhouse you dickwads

So I'm not the only one who remembers all the Visco games getting ACA releases?

Because that's the thing--apparently the intenet is saying ACA never touched Visco games at all, even though I swear that Captain Tomaday at least was available.

No, I'm only saying that any Neo Geo game that didn't make it to ACA years ago just isn't happening, for whatever reason. They did every Neo Geo game they're ever going to do, unless something changes. There are also some non-Visco games that are still missing.
