After Tenaple's success on his Bigfoot CG comic, he negotiated with the copyright owner of the Earthworm Jim IP to get the comic book rights for that franchise.

However, because of course they are commies and Doug himself his a Holliwoodite, one of the stipulations was he had to denounce CG.

So he had a big stream going "so long and thanks for all the fish" then immediately dyed his hair pink and denounced CG as homophobic and conveniently got invited to some big comic convention to be "the crowdfunding guy", where he basically took all the credit for the success of his campaigns which were all pushed by CG and EVS.

Doug is a real fucking worm, basically.
You're kinda downplaying EVS' old attack dogs, WarCampaign actively going after Doug which definitely encouraged him to shit on CG on the way out with no remorse

Not to get into an needless diatribe, but if you told me in early 2020 Dick's thread would have a 1000 pages, all of them overwhelmingly critical, I wouldn't have believed it. I really hate that it had to be this way; I disagree with this belief that Dick has never funny because he was. Those first 200 episodes of TDS were great. Dick was likeable and charismatic and could be funny while also seeming intelligent and principled. His show had really great guests who could provide laughs while also discussing interest topics. Null being a frequent guest was what made me sign up to the farms in the first place.
I stil can't figure out what it is. Maybe it was COVID lockdown, maybe it was the lack of a raison d'etre, maybe it was his brain being fried by drugs and alcohol, but he completely changed. I remember defending him a lot during the Simpspiracy shit, but in hindsight he never recovered from the Jamie Lynn Hughes leaks and the confrontation with PPP. It's only gotten worse as the years have progressed. It's not even funny to follow like Ralph, it's just very depresssing. Reading his tweets and hearing him talk just makes me angry; he's a hatecow. So it feels gratifying seeing him get angry and getting fucked with at this point because he's so unrepentant and disingenuous, and so adverse to any kind of wake up call for scorned fans.

It's so over, bros.
If you look back the the guest list on all of the episodes you'll notice there is a sharp decline around early to mid 2020, a direct lineup with the covid lockdowns. It seems like he lost alot of his ability to network when that happened, and the show heavily declined. By the time that was over, he'd dug his own grave by saying a bunch of stupid shit, and lost relevance to pull new guests. I think there were 2 things that destroyed him in this time.

First off, I think this is around the time that he began to associate heavily with Vito. Vito has an extreme compulsion for attention, with no regard for whether its positive or negative. He's honestly done a few things I think are decently funny, but it all gets drowned out by him being a disingenuous faggot. Its why he does gay shit like trying to get a podcast taken down for having Alex Jones on, and its why he's started this giant feud over some nigger making a mediocre comic book. He just wants attention. He'd probably let someone rape him in the ass if it would give him a modicum of attention. Its pretty clear alot of these tendencies have rubbed off on Dick. Dick may think Vito is his pet retard at times, but he seeks attention in the exact same way Vito does.

The other issue is a building resentment against his fans. Familiarity breeds contempt, and Dick lost most of his local LA contacts, forced to be alone with his fans for over a year. He built his brand on shitting on people around him, so it inevitably spread to his fans due to isolation. Unfortunately, contempt for fans doesn't make you very likable.

Seeing Dick these days makes me feel a mixture of emotions. I really enjoyed his show in the past and he was funny, but so much of what he does now is usually boring, and occasionally disgusts me. One thing I really found admirable in the past was when Dick made New Project 2, and talked about how everyone has a right to make money. Now he's fucking with Eric July over his stupid comic book and trying to interfere with his business. Its hypocritical and undermines a positive character trait he had in the past. Eric's comic is probably shit, like most comic books are, but it doesn't warrant Dick and Vito fucking with him week after week - at least make it funny.

That's a long one. The main issue is that they're both manipulative fags with massive egos.
The definitive moments in the feud were when Doug didn't advertise Comicsgate during an award ceremony and when EVS used Doug's anti-homo views as an excuse to denounce him.
@Mister Dongs might have more insight.

Doug TenNapel was part of the second wave of comic book professionals who, seeing the money that amateur projects by untested creators was bringing in, decided to hop on into CG back in 2018. Ethan played up what a victim Doug was to the people, describing him as an impoverished wretch who was brutally buck broken by the libs and who needed his and Comicsgate's help to get on his feet again or else his broke ass will be shaking a tin cup on the curb like a homeless bitch. Apparently Doug, a proud man, was not appreciative of this presentation of his plight, or at least not as appreciative as Ethan figured he would be. Publicly though, he sucked it up if that's what it took to get the project funded. Doug's intentions were, allegedly, more along the lines of using his crowdfund project Bigfoot Bill as a proof-of-concept to then take to Activision and renegotiate his IP rights with Earthworm Jim to trade his video game royalties for the ability to independently create and sell EWJ comics. In time, Bigfoot Bill was created, a beautiful painted hardcover with gilt edges, made a lot of money and was an overall creative and professional success. That done, Doug slowly started to ease in the idea in backrooms (according to EVS) that it was time for he and Comicsgate to part ways, sweetening the pill by saying it wasn't his idea, but that his agreement with Activision demanded no CG association. This was latched on to by CGers that hated Doug, like Cecil and EVS' goonsquad Warcampaign, that Doug was a traitor who was simply there to use CG as a cash machine, and Doug's anti-homo stances were counter to supposed Comicsgate tenets of apolitical centrism. But mostly because he acted like a smug dick who "thought" he was better than them. Ethan sat on the fence for a while until at Doug TenNapel failed to thank him on a SDCC 2019 "kings of crowdfunding" panel for 2019, after all he did for Doug. It was on now. FUK DUG. WE'RE A HATE GROUP? UR THE HOMO HATER.

At this point, Doug started burning every bridge he could get his hands on, yelling that he was being pushed out by SJWs yet again and was not in fact leaving of his own volition, and that even if he wasn't he'd have nothing to do with such a corrupt and vile anti-Christian group that he learned CG to be. And besides that, he never had any intention of being some youtubing grifter overcharging people $25 for comic books, but an artist giving true value to his treasured customers. Since then Doug has gone on to put such beliefs into practice, like building a 500K subscriber QAnon youtube channel claiming that the 2020 election was going to be overturned any day now, selling NFTs for hundreds of dollars a piece, and hanging out with Dick Masterson. Comicsgaters continued to harangue the traitorous 'Dirtworm Doug' wherever he went online for years. Crucially, The Dick Show always had an open door for Doug until the 2020 election happened and Doug was able to finally build his own platform. One major consequence of the rift was that a lot of the socially conservative-minded CG creators left with Doug, which was a shame because that included most of the actually talented ones, leaving EVS with nothing but his beloved retarded freaks and grifters.

Since then Doug TenNapel has done various minor things to tweak Ethan and Comicsgate in repayment for all the shit they've given him over the years. One good example was mailing some original Earthworm Jim artwork to Thomas Roiloup to purchase some of Ethan's Cyberfrog commemorative coins. A deep dive into the coinage was commissioned by the autists, and it was found that 'RibbitCoin' was minted in a Pennsylvanian facility that did not work with precious metals, making the frog coins fraudulent nickel presented as silver. This led to CG termagant VikkiVerse making her debut video about the RibbitCoin expose, which led to @FROG dressing up in a carnival outfit address the accusations of fraud and accidently disclosing his deep ties with Dynamite Comics as he threw them under the bus for the fuckup. Which led to an industry-wide scandal at a major comics publisher secretly working hand-in-hand with Comicsgate and then being forced with a threatened walkout by their own employees to release a press statement confirming their severance of relations with CG. Which in turn led to (another) civil war between EVS and his fan group in 2020. Such is how things go in Comicsgate.

For years knowing Dick Masterson's exploits, omething has always troubled me about Dick and I have never been able to get this question out in a public forum til now:

Why do people treat and talk about Dick as if he has a moral compass? Even when Josh talked about him before the Eric July drama, there is always an expectation of him to have some basic level of trust or some kind of standard.
When Dick backstabs someone, they get so mad when it was coming a mile away. Anyone Dick could call a friend is another way of saying "a tool to use later"
Idgi.

I think most people would like to believe that the majority of humanity has at least the basic bare-minimum amount of human empathy in them.

Juju went all in on this rather recently, shitting on July and "reviewing" ISOM (=doing some Hollywood exec style notes, quite embarrassing). Ethan Van Sciver, being an eternal fan of dick, drooled all over the review and started saying everywhere that July should listen to it. This led to further escalation and the charity accusations.
I don't understand how men like Nick and Ethan idolize a man like Dax. Nick and Ethan are infinitely more successful (or were) than Dax. They used to get more viewers and made more money than Dax did yet here these men (who I can only describe as pathetic, insecure, manchildren) idolize a man who is a failure and a slug. A man who, in his 35 years in being in Hollywood, has never been successful in any of his endeavors. A man whose only claim to fame is writing a anti-feminist book, being on the Dr. Phil show and being on a failing podcast with a self-professed pedophile. A man, who Null correctly states, will sell children into sex slavery on Epstein Island just to have a show of his be in production. Yet these two pathetic dipshits idolize this worthless failure of a slug.

Say what you will about PPP but he is right about Nick and by extension Ethan. These men want to be Dax. They hate their wives and kids and want to live the life that Dax lives. It is pathetic seeing this from grown middle age men. Dax's life is not one to envy or to idolize. This man is buddies with pedophiles and groomers and every business venture he has done has been met with failure. It's just baffling.

The fuck does that have to do with anything I said, retard?
Only my first line addressed you, super brain. Also, if you didn't care, you wouldn't be here, in Dick's thread, sticking up for him. Fuck off.
Your man is acting like fucking bluespike

Sounds like EVS should pay dick to look at his comic next. Maybe Dick has some good ideas to make Cyberfrog more PedoVito friendly.

Do you know why EVS hates Doug Tenaple now?
Dick is already drooling over cyber frog. I don't know much about evs, but I'm amused at how he tried to give Vito an out by directly denying that he's a pedophile, and got a half assed apology that was less believable than Jonny Somali's gomemasai
No one wants to sit through that show to clip one or two tidbits of "women bad" & "fat people are a problem" and rehash it here. It's not like he's getting any guests on to push back or present an opposing view.
Considering nobody has clipped shit in months to talk about here, probably nobody.
Fuck you guys, I've been slogging through this shit for nothing, apparently

:stress:

Even master @Null said no one is hate watching this dreck. To think I defended you when people keep saying you need a gf. :'(

I bit my tongue last night and let Mr. Dongs reply to this first, since he has the superpower of Comicsgate omniscience and knows way more than I. I'll just say, DougT realized CG was full of retard spergs, he was already running 6-figure comic crowdfunding campaigns before CG even existed, and unlike CG creators, he actually made comics in a timely manner. And they tended to actually be good (by comic standards). @FROG and his narrative where he is the savior of comics and Doug is a stupid stupid retard fool broke bitch who needed @FROG to teach him how to use a computer was never going to fly with anyone possessing self-respect. CG broke apart so fast because it turned into a commie struggle session almost instantly. Even YaBoiRetardZach left almost immediately. Before @FROG had released a single comic in fact. Meanwhile, there was a years-long campaign to harass DougT and photoshop him into as many gay porn scenes on twitter as possible, which is just what you do when someone leaves your cult religion group of comic professionals youtuber group . CG really did go full retard war with that. Many such cases. I'll stop here, but I could go on for another 100K words and it would still be a 'summary'.

So like I said, it's stupid comic drama wherein elderly men fight like school girls and pull each other's hair. Knowing the reasons for the CG fallouts should make a normal, emotionally balanced person facepalm.
Did this not start with Eric July having multiple meltdowns because Dick Masterson said his comic book wasn't good? Of course a troll is going to milk a lolcow, which is what Eric July is. Eric July deserves his own thread on this forum, curious there isn't one with kiwifarmers (gay retards like you, yes you are a gay retard) tripping over each other to niggaverse-guard Mr. July instead. Strange. It's because spineless and gay retards like you are terrified of going out on a limb, and go where the internet points lead you.
I imagine it'd be hard to find even a single person in this entire thread who would even waste their time to read Rippa's 'based black' capeshit comic. No one here gives a fuck about Rippa, his audience are normies.

All I know is, Dax is acting more embarrassing than Rippa, very uncool.

It is ironic that Dick losing relevancy in LA only gained relevancy on the Internet for all the gay drama he keeps dragging himself into. The pull of the mighty dollar is too much it seems. Which makes me believe that running a podcast that doesn't have a strong focal point just becomes a complacent chore for the people running it.

I know this isn't entirely Dax-related but since Eric D. July put issue #1 of his comic book on sale I went ahead and spent $13 (including shipping) to read it and see what the fuss was about.

I went in with two assumptions based on earlier crowdfunded comics I read:

1. There would be massive word dumps and pages of exposition about his super-awesome new characters and we'd get all the minutia of their powers and backstory.

2. The plot would be complex with all these "clever" twists and whatnot.

Neither is true. The writing is maybe even too restrained. Hero with, apparently, a fairly modest set of powers goes on a low-stakes mission, gets his ass handed to him, regroups and tries again. A bit of back story here and there, the end until next time.

Again, usually with amateur-written books the problem is they tell way too much story and it's a chore to make it to the end. I never want to read their works again. In this case I honestly would probably buy #2 if it goes on sale as well.

For all the noise and fuss Vito and Dax make about all this, it's a pretty decent old-school comic. Nice art, quality paper and printing. If I'd have bought it at a comics store without knowing about all the controversy I wouldn't have thought anything was amiss about it.

I don't think July is directly writing the story, I believe he actually employed some old comic writers to do the actual job and he just gives his general plot to them for then to hash out, which is the smart thing to do.

I haven't read it, but even if its mid by 2000's standard its still better than anything printed by the big 2 in the last 10 years.

I'm pretty sure Eric is taking the lead on writing when it comes to the main book ISOM because that's his passion project, but has the other writers on their own books to expand the universe. Would explain the middling reviews I've heard of issue 1 that seem to be the most honest because they weren't from people desperate to take him down or suck his dick. They're probably giving writing tips though. At least I hope Eric would be smart enough to take writing tips from industry veterans that he has on payroll.

Eric basically writes the bible for his stories and universes and then hands ot off to people way better than him to put into practice.

It allows him to have control over his universe and characters while being able to write way more and employ talented people. And it’s a good direction when he runs a punlishing company. I bet he’s laying the groundwork and then he will try and start publishing other people honestly.

I’ve been told the writing gets better in #2 but still stays pretty old school and straightforward. It’s nothing groundbreaking or anything like that, but it’s a good read with no weird need to preach or lecture you with bad social commentary. It’s why people have enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed his show in the past and he was funny, but so much of what he does now is usually boring, and occasionally disgusts me.
%99 of podcasts are barely listenable horseshit people catch onto the same way they do/did daytime radio talkshows, to have something to listen to while idle or focusing on something else be it driving, grinding in a videogame, or cleaning the house.

What happens when people focus in on something that's barely listenable horseshit to begin with is they start to view it in a vacuum for what it is, and come away wondering how the old episodes could be "so good" compared to what they're hearing now.

The guy had the capacity to carry on a show that was, to be on the level a 5-6/10 with a particularly good episode being a 7 or 8 every ten-twenty if it was a good guest. Sure, the quality now is fucking 1-0/10 because his only consistent guest is his psychopathic, pedophilic egotistical asshole progressive not-friend who couldn't be funny if he dressed as a clown and lit himself on fire to the tune of Benny Hill, but the podcast was "great" the same way many of the "great" daytime radio shows are mostly just mid listening if you're not doing anything else.

I started listening at around episode 30 or 40 I think, I stopped at whatever episode he had that Null broke contact with him on because of the fact that he would side with a dude known for fantasizing about the rape of children over a dude who actually had interesting shit to say, but I did a few months back go and try to listen to an old episode and noticed three things:

1) Nearly every episode is dated. As in, it's centered around something going on at the time, so going back and listening to it without the context just makes it feel dreary the same way an old news broadcast would.

2) The fucking fake laughter was always there. It's the same as the way I used to like Two and a Half Men until I saw the meme about listening to it without the laugh track. Once you notice it you can never fucking un-notice it and it's like a cheese grater to the ears. I'd rather listen to the "nails on a chalkboard" remix of the Jonestown kool-aid tape than one fucking minute of fake podcaster laughter again.

3) It really is mid, from the topics/jokes being repetitive to the "gag" guests like that one dude who'd contact female prisoners or whatever, there's too many parts that I remember even skipping when I'd listen to it while mowing the yard or doing housework. Just shit that, to me even then, I thought it was bad at the time and one of the things if I were asked when I was a listener to the show if I had any criticisms to make, that'd have been it. Asterios being on and being what I now think of as "Vito-lite", the annoying shitbag progressive who does "comedy" in the stylings of trying to push a political agenda more than get a laugh out of anybody, would be a good example of that.

It's only made worse by the revelation that the guy is a manipulative, amoral sociopath who seems to have no aspects to his personality deeper than being an egotistical retard with an unhealthy obsession around "making it for real" in satan's anus AKA Hollywood. People like that don't "change" into it, they're either born or molded into it in early life and it comes out whenever something makes the facade drop. With that in mind, a person being interesting and entertaining are very closely related, an incredibly shallow, amoral dipshit is infinitely less funny, entertaining, and interesting than an amoral dipshit with complexity.

I don't have a problem listening to people's shows I disagree with politically or even morally if they're interesting people with character. The problem with Dax and why people say shit like "he was never funny" is because knowing that he's a basal retard with no depth of character beyond the most shallow shit imaginable retroactively makes him less interesting than he presented himself as, knowing that he's not some dude who actually has any strong stances on anything other than "make money, fuck people of questionable quality and circumstances, and get high/drunk, while reveling in having no real position on anything of substance at all other than hedonism", and knowing that the "character" Dick Masterson is just him with a microphone undermines the foundation of what made his show "funny".

Being very verbose about it I suppose but a TL;DR of my opinion on the "he was never funny" vs "the show is good" is that his character both turned out to be him, and he turned out to be the loser he'd make fun of, while running a show that wasn't all that different from the vast majority of other "comedy podcasts" save for his lawsuit with Maddox and the fact that his character was in part thought to be exactly that - a fictionalized version of himself. Start paying attention to the thing you'd normally listen to in the background, with the knowledge that this guy's just some fucking burnt-out bitter loser rather than a guy who's carefree playing a character and making fun of stupid shit, and the show turns into unlistenable garbage.
