After the Chris Chan stuff, the various lolcow stories became a weird fascination for me, probably one of the reasons why I'm on this site. So this dude indirectly brought me to this forum, for better or for worse, and it's surreal seeing he has a thread on here.
What is it about vtubing that gets everyone so hyped about sucking corporate dick? Everyone has to be in some group as if that means anything. They put out one video of fake lore pretending like they're creating this fantasy universe when every stream will be them talking about what they had for breakfast that day. And I'm supposed to get excited about a new streamer that I've never heard of before, have no idea what the quality of their content is like, or even if they make any content I give a shit about. But corporate says it's new and I need to be excited so get hyped! I guess all vtubers are exactly the same so it doesn't really matter. Vtubers don't do any modeling, they don't do any editing, they don't even have access to their own fucking channels. They have "managers" who puppeteer them. It's not just fake and gay but it's so openly fake and gay that I can't understand why it works. Usually people would rather you lie to them about it and pretend that the vtuber is totally real guys and works very hard. But no their audience gets a raging hard on for corporate shilling and it baffles me.
Pretty telling that he willingly flagellated with his Mistakes videos (and can reap all the ass-pattery of comments gushing about what an amazing, humble, thorough and handsome historian he is for admitting these mistakes), but when he gets critiqued for the May Island video, he gets catty and calls the criticism unfair, personal, and irrelevant. It's a hallmark of a dramatic/histrionic to develop a narrative that they're their own worst critic and that they're too hard on themselves, only to get defensive when someone ACTUALLY points out areas they can do better instead of coddling. Fortunately most of the thread agreed with the critic, even though there were a few typical vacuous simps who took issue with it because it "seemed rude" because it's the 2020s and tone is always more important than content.
As said in the other thread, he's trying to curry favor with fujoshi shippers with the vtuber slop because faggotry sells, and while it's not totally false given that he's an actual fag, he's got some pretty big hurdles to overcome since he's a charisma vacuum, is terrible at voice acting and is also fuck-ugly irl.

I understand that making videos takes a while, especially when you have to do a lot of research and it's high-quality, but look at Internet Historian, the guy has made multiple videos and they're informative, entertaining and high-quality, he literally made a movie about pirates, like come on man. The guy made so many things in 3 years, while this faggot still hasn't uploaded a video.

His stream numbers since the debut. The 14th got a bump because it was his tea stream, where he turns his camera back on and ASMR talks to the audience while being autistic about tea.
His schedule for this week is basically nothing. Another tea stream on Friday and a just chatting on Saturday. People in the previous thread noted that his numbers are low for being an internet tier celeb combined with a gay vtuber. I personally think they look low for someone who is so youtube famous, but they may be high enough that it makes him hesitate to go back to video creation .

The problem with Tom, and most of the other YouTube ""documentarians"" is that they try to inject their personality when they have none to give. Not that I'm against someone putting more of themselves in their work, but for most of these people it just doesn't work because they are a black hole. To me, YouTube "documentarians" either have to be funny or they have to be thorough, and Tom is neither.
Frederik's documentaries were excellent because they just gave you the straight facts in a neutral manner. No tangents about his personal life, no stopping the video dead in its tracks to give you platitudes.
He also had the rare quality of making any topic interesting. And hell, when he wanted to be funny he actually could be! His streams with Jabroni Mike were really good Though after this thread the Semenology episode might leave a... ahem, bad taste in my mouth, his IH cameo(s?) were funny and it was good to see that he could poke fun at himself.
Then I sensed things going awry when I heard the EVE Online video was going to be 6 hours long, and how it's taking 3 years to complete... but I thought maybe he's just making a complete history of every saga and in-game drama ever.
People in this thread are under the impression that a video like this wouldn't do well on YouTube. Unfortunately it's quite the opposite. Around 2020 or so, YouTube changed it so super long videos got more traction. There's a reason why MauLer dumps 4 hour long videos on capeshit that get millions of views. To me its brought about the worst content slop imaginable because now you have all of these hacks that don't have more than 10-20 minutes of content stretching it out to 40mins/1hour or longer. I thought Fredrik was capitalising on that when he announced that, which was disappointing and confusing since he already did long videos, and now its been so long that I'm not sure if the algorithm even works like that anymore.
This revelation that the video has actually been delayed because he's been busy roleplaying as a gay catboy is just really sad. To me it is a guarantee that he's been doing some degenerate shit in private, and with a Kiwifarms feature and more eyes on him, it's only a matter of time before it floats to the surface .

I really hate the concept of streaming. It takes people I like that create interesting content and turns them into repetitive slop producers. It's so much easier while making so much more money that it fucks everything up.

Unironic question, but what is the point of streamers or anime avatar users in joining these vtuber companies/collectives? I thought the whole point of streaming or having your own youtube channel is that you don't have a boss and answer to no one but the platform and keep all the money unless you're too lazy/inept to do your own thumbnails and editing. It seems like such a massive L to join the vtuber companies, have them constantly scrape a huge percentage off every video or tip collection and be part of a stable of clone-like retards also draining your view pool.
