If anyone wants to have to have fun, insist that TECHNICALLY and LEGALLY SPEAKING. Russia is actually not at war with Ukraine as they did not declare war, and thus no country nor the UN is legally obligated to do anything in this war. As such a no-fly zone can not be implemented nor can an embargo, etc as remember this, like Vietnam or Iraq 2 are police actions (The Gulf War was technically the only UN conflict that had Security Council approval). Furthermore, the Russian amassing of Ukrainian Territory is 100% legal as internationally; those groups had elections in which the vast majority not just voted to leave Ukraine but then voted to join Russia.

Do I believe all this, fuck no; however, International Law is so vague that these claims can be made and justified.

By the way the difference between this and say the Gulf War is that the United Nations exists to ensure four things. 1: That no country deletes a whole country (ie what the Nazis did to Poland or France or what the Japanese did to Korea or China) without that country's consent. 2: That whole groups of people are not deleted for being who they are (no holocaust/ killing Jews for being Jews). You can maybe remove them from an area and relocate them but you can not kill them. 3: Stop poverty because people in poverty create problems 4: Stop large scale WW1 and WW2 style wars by creating a system by which people can bitch and moan at each other while actual diplomats talk behind the scenes to ensure peace is maintained because peace = growth.

Remember, there are salaried professionals at high levels of government that still believe that the election of Donald Trump and all the memes surrounding him from 4Chan was a foreign intelligence op. And that's because these people were told during high school through college that all democratic politics in the Western World in the post Cold War era was "supposed" to go in only one direction and towards one end. When the actual voting populace made it known that they felt otherwise with both Brexit and the election of Trump - when things didn't go "according to plan" - the only conclusion they could even conceive was that it was the result of hostile outside forces, and that said forces were using social media to manipulate people into selecting things that were against the national interest.

Which means that all of a sudden, it's totally justified for these GS-14's to start using their own positions in the national security apparatus (without any authorization from the Executive or Congress, mind you) to start manipulating social media themselves. Because after all, they're "protecting democracy" from the dumb, easily manipulated voters who don't know what's good for them.

Now with that said, at the moment the only links between the Fellas and US/NATO glowie orgs is circumstantial at best. But given both what Shellenberger above has uncovered and reported on, plus what we've seen revealed in Missouri v. NAFO was funny for the first minute; now it is completely cringe. The Shibu, the Ukraine memes, doesn't aid in war discussion but distract from it. It completely destroyed any serious discussion about the war and the consequences it, and more importantly how people within the professional OSIT world talk about it. Prior to 2022, it was frankly easy for me to go on twitter and go to 3-5 accounts and figure out what the fuck was going on in the Eastern Part of Ukraine. Now when I go to the same accounts its stupid memes this and dumb memes that. Then when I would go to whatever discord I use to go which actually would help me find information, and I bring up a genuine point that I have (that Russia will NOT give up Crimea and might generally nuke over it, and that zelensky will have big issues domestically if he can't capture it and the areas occupied by Russia) I get called a Vatnik or get screamed at about Russian War Crimes. Even worse when I mention a genuine concern that the Ukrainians might engage in reprisal killing when they liberate territory.
