Just because you can post whatever you want on social media doesn't mean you should.

Your Oedipus complex really isn't a topic that you can (or should) freely talk about with friends.

I should be shocked, but Chris' willingness to offer up such personal and disgusting information about himself has left me numb to this kind of thing.

I am reminded of @Marvin's comment about how utterly creepy they were in court together and described the only reason he would mimic their behavior is with a girl 'he'd want to bang'.

You are correct. Most Freudian psychology, including the Oedipus complex, are now considered discredited by most of the psychological community, barring a few of the older therapists/teachers who still teach parts of the theory (usually defense mechanisms like projection and reaction formation) and some fringe elements. It's usually people who are outside of psychology who try to act as if it is a theory that psychology still holds. For example, I had a Criminology professor with a sociology background act as if the Oedipus complex was still legitimately a thing in psychology.

Freudian psychology itself is usually considered bad science now because core aspects are unfalsifiable. The unconscious is by definition outside of awareness, so how do therapists know about it? Any attempts to disprove the Oedipus complex were seen as being proof that you find it so damn shameful that you overreact the opposite way in an attempt to hide it.

Especially amusing with the Oedipus complex is that Freud had a sample size of one- himself, and he based it off of memories that were from when he was a small child . Though most who try to argue his viewpoint go "Your extreme reaction of disgust is clearly reaction formation and you secretly want to fuck your parent" (reaction formation), you could turn such arguments on Freud himself. That he was trying to claim everyone had the fucked up mindset he had, a form of projection. Assuming he wasn't instead projecting an adult mindset and his batshit theories on his fuzzy memories of the time, especially since memory fades and childhood memory especially so.

However, getting back to Chris, he's just fucked up. I have no idea of if there is a bottom to all of this, but I'll be surprised if there is, at this point.

I never heard of the Westermarck effect before and thought not being attracted to family in a sexual was was a society influenced phenomenon not biological/evolutionary thing

Well Barb is pretty much incapacitated, and we know how chris feels about rape (ie the time he pretended he was a troll and wanted people to convince him to rape Rocky).
