Walter's most famous works, such as Switched On Bach and A Clockwork Orange, was done after he started crossdressing and taking female hormones. Afterwards his fame vaned, not because of his transition, but because despite being a developer of musical technology, he is really not that innovative as a musician.

Switched On Bach has got to be the most inane and seriously banal idea for a record that I can think of. I get it that synthesisers were a new technology and no one knew what to do with them, but that opens you up to creativity and inspiration for new musical ideas that have never existed before and instead you just rehash an idea from the baroque period. It’s pathetic how unoriginal and uninspired it was and how popular it got. It makes me weep for the general public.

That's actually the weirdest, dumbest thing about troons. Their entire identity is about being some gender they'll never be, and usually repulsively obviously, to the point that people are openly disgusted by their appearance, lack of hygiene, and idiotic behavior.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to be that fucked in the head. Imagine a wizard randomly transformed you to the opposite sex. How terrible would this be? Not much, really. Just get over it and deal with it.

She‘s a liver transplant recipient who goes to *this* doctor for such things as her transplant related meds and has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be having a (double?) mastectomy later this month and they’re blithely telling her to have her oncologist pick up the slack with her prescriptions. It is so utterly beyond unprofessional.

Power level: I’m a Portlander and while I don’t get my healthcare at OHSU I have family members who do. Once, at a related clinic, I loaned my phone to a freaked out tranny trying to get a ride home. THIS IS THE THANKS I GET

This is the easiest thing to say in this situation and would made the patient feel better (but they would still have to explain why a loiterer was able to barge in any room, in a private hospital, without staff permission.)

(music sperging) I agree with you on your "Yeah, what else you got" attitude towards Switched On Bach. It wasn't a particularly original idea. Earlier in the decade, we'd already had English keyboard masters and synth pioneers Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman using their ridiculous talents using the new(ish) technology to cover classical and neoclassical works (ELP covering some of American composer Aaron Copland's work like Fanfare for the Common Man, and Wakeman covering a portion of Johannes Brahms' 3d Symphony on Cans and Brahms from the 1971 Yes album  Fragile.

Those were new and novel (and totally bad-ass) uses of new technology applied to symphonic pieces. OTOH,  SOB just seemed (to this audiophile, anyway) as a less inspired attempt to catch on a commercial wave.
