All the trannies are just screeching about how calling the feds on a troon org is “tremendously violent” and “tantamount to murder” (actual quotes from people), but nobody has said anything about animal abuse. They don’t want to believe the animal abuse because it undermines the work of their fellow troons, and they don’t like or consider Bonnie to be a reliable source. The short explanation is in 1934 the US government signed a bill called the National Firearms Act that requires you to pay a 200$ fee to shorten the barrel of a rifle or a shotgun below 16" or 18", respectively. This was to combat the trend of gangsters buying up old surplus rifles and brand-new machine guns, sawing off the barrels and stocks to fit under a coat and using them to shoot up whoever they wanted with relative concealability (the 30's were fun). 200$ was a prohibitively high tax in 1934 dollars, essentially barring low to middle-class folks from having short-barreled rifles without completely prohibiting it entirely, which would be unconstitutional. Any rifle sold with a barrel under 16" is considered a pistol, and cannot legally have a stock attached to it. Ditto with shotguns having barrels under 18". Besides maybe negatively affecting the accuracy a bit, shortening a firearm's barrel just serves to make it lighter and easier to carry.

In this beautiful year of our lord 2023 where thanks to decades of firearm manufacturing advancement you can conveniently carry a machine pistol in your pocket there's really no more of a reason to regulate short barreled rifles, which are clunkier and heavier, but that 200$ tax stamp fee keeps the ATF funded and the US government would never willingly let you keep your money if they have the option to just take it. It's a pretty contentious issue in the gun community because you're completely right, the US government shouldn't have a say in what you do to your guns after you've purchased them, but that's just how it is and anyone who wants to protest against them is liable to get Ruby Ridged.
