It's not uncommon for emergency vets in some areas to charge $500+ to test a cat's blood for a single type of ingestible toxin. Emergency care for pets is batshit insanely expensive, and primary caregiver needs add up in a right hurry. BBJ's needs will easily blow through thousands if she gets the care she needs, especially if she's got at least one more year left. She's going to need testing for many conditions that elderly cats are susceptible to at multiple points, she's going to need various medications, she may need some kind of surgery later, specialty care equipment, cans of disgustingly overpriced prescription food, etc. It's guaranteed to be in the thousands, the only question is 'how many thousands?'.Its not going to cost thousands what the hell are you on about ? No, i'm not mad that she got some money out of this.
It sucks, but that's what it means to care for your elderly pets in stead of euthanizing them or letting them go do shit that will get them killed suddenly.
