And HONEY ISN'T plant-based!???!!!!! Orange blossom...clover...lavender... Oh my god my brain hurts. How the fuck is it 'saving' bees, when it' s just what they do, and doesn't hurt them? These people are idiots! There's something like 300 varieties of honey in the US alone, each from a different floral source.

Yep. They seem to think they're doing something different. Or they're just taking advantage of utterly exceptional people like Anna.

Actually they're angry that we're "stealing" the honey from the bees. They work so hard for it only to have us come along and take the very food from their little bee mouths.

When you get down to it, it's just a way for them to feel special about themselves.

I had the opposite experience, but it was black beans rotini from Trader Joe's. If you're willing to try it, I made it with red enchilada sauce, cheese and chicken. Be careful not to over cook it and you should be fine.

Spoiler said, that still looks gross. In fact, she could have made enchilada pasta.

That's like saying sheep are killed for their wool. I mean the sheep I know suffer horrible mistreatment of embarrassing haircuts every summer, but then so does our cat. These people are mind blowing.

And apparently it's catching, the Bee-Free Honee ladies (one of which is working on Slaton-sized, nice health food there) went on Shark Tank earlier this year, and three of the Sharks bought in to their company for 30% to the tune of $210,000. Go figure.

I myself would pay real money to see TFVG try to get on Shark Tank to beg backing for her book/products/whatever.

There are genuinely horrible mistreatments that go on in the wool industry. But it is possible to find wool where there is better raising and no mistreatment. Don't bother trying to explain that to a vegan though.

Oh, and then there's silk...

It's not like Anna has ever expressed interest in animal welfare, nor does she seem to avoid animal-based products outside of her diet.
She is vegan for purely dietary reasons, not out of concern for animals.

Well, that does seem to be what Ginger eats. Sad. 50 years ago the idea you could live off of pastes and powders was a cool sci fi trope. The reality is less astronaut food and more health nuts. Completely disordered health nuts, here.

She claims to have gone vegan for health reasons at the age of 13 and was not eager to have me asking more questions. She and her friends shooed me away. I tried a sample and it wasn't so bad, it was really bland hummus. She's obviously anorexic, her hair is the thinnest I've seen from anyone. The "event" only had three tables other than hers out, and they were from legit companies and fitness trainers. The place is dead other than meatheads getting their protein powder and the other table people. I got a photo before I left though.

Edit: Hopefully those pics aren't massive on the site, I'm on mobile. Also, her mom is there. Eating her food.

Well to be fair harvesting honey is deliberately using an animal to acquire a good, any insects that might be killed in other industries or agricultural harvests are unintentional and largely unavoidable, while the vegan solution to harvesting honey is to just avoid that product. If anything it would be hypocritical if vegans did eat honey.

In any event, the bee-free honee product is actually quite tasty on pancakes, very light apple taste to it, and I'm kinda sad we aren't getting a whole vegan dessert cookbook from Anna that's just that "honee" syrup mixed with some zero calorie rice to make some sort of cinnamon apple rice pudding abomination.
