Tim Wise's grandfather (jewish) ran a very successful liquor store in the heart of black community in Nashville. His father was an alcoholic stand-up comic financially supported by his wife. The secret to the "Jews who hate Israel" is that they are actually just rival zionist factions. Regarding the infamous Drexel story, I've got a brief anecdote. Considering how many in Nick's sphere defend him still, I decided there's a chance I was judging his actions too harshly. I decided to ask around as much as I reasonably could without looking strange; Difficult, considering the subject matter.
Between work, family and friends, I've probably got around fifty opinions from a decent variety of people across the DEI spectrum. I left out Drexel's race and the age gap between him and "T" to avoid bias, but I relayed the rest of the story accurately. At least, as accurately as Drexel's own perennially changing narration will allow me.
… Not that it mattered. The most charitable response I could find was "Well, it isn't illegal, but it's still fucked up". Most were some iteration of "If I was the mother, I'd kill him" and other assorted bravado. Outside of very specific, hardcore fetish communities (and, oddly enough, Nick's crowd), I struggle to find so much as a passive acceptance of Drexel's actions, let alone anyone who thinks he's a giga sigma-Freud chad, as he'd lead his broken harem of discord trogs to believe. At least, that's my opinion, from what I can see. I'm sure if I polled fetlife, I could find some psychopaths willing to cosign the Drexcapades.

A good start to begin adding bios on the 'People of LOCALS.'
Tech Update: I have most of the features of Panoptes V 1.2 working--except for reply attachments. This will take a bit more doing, but I hope to finish tomorrow.
Improvements are:
Bug fixes for time-out errors
Bug fixes for duplicating messages
Bug fixes for unsupported stream title characters
Single layer reply threading for message text and attachments
Timestamping for batch scraping
This should help put some of those random reaction GIFs, messages, and time flow into perspective.

Not that accurate. The loudest, most vocal, and effective abolitionists were English Anglicans who convinced the British government to essentially interdict slave ships and end slavery as an institution in many areas around the world.
It would also be more accurate to say that slavery was a tolerated institution by most Christian sects. Slavery being an institution older than human written records was regarded as a simple fact of life by most everybody.
It is also important to distinguish the chattel slavery of the Atlantic slave trade from earlier forms as it was not until the emergence of European nation states capable of punishing slave raids against their own people that slaves became increasingly sourced from cheaper and safer Africa.
This led to most slaves being Sub-Saharan African which then caused a contradiction of both Christian/Greek and humanist ideals of cosmopolitan human fraternity with the age old institution of slavery. Now literally colored by race, slavery was justified by depersoning or dehumanizing slaves to serve the continued existence of slavery despite it contradicting proclamations of universal brotherhood.

You don't have to look far to find Rekeitoid types in history. There were failsons on plantations back then too. This is when a lot of the racemixing was done since some masters would let their horny sons rape the slave women because otherwise their son might defile a white woman. If they spawned a mulatto, then that was good since it meant another slave. And yes, if their failson was a homo, this was where buck breaking happened.
One interesting case (albeit from the post-slavery era) was this one decadent failson of a plantation owner in Mississippi who would seduce black male sharecroppers (i.e. essentially serfs) to sodomize. He was booted out for being a sodomite but traveled around enough and publically treated his black catamite as his servant, so few ever caught on.
Maybe proportionately since Southern Jews were rich, but in terms of numbers I highly doubt it. Most Jews in the South lived in the cities and ran the banks and cotton trade. Famous examples include Judah P. Benjamin (CSA Secretary of State) or when Ulysses S. Grant ordered all the Jews expelled from Tennessee because the Memphis Jews (who ran the cotton trade) kept supporting the CSA. They did not own as many slaves as the plantation owners but gladly funded their purchase of more slaves (since that was like loaning a farmer today money to buy a new tractor).
